are NEVER the same! One month we might
host a large group to hear a special speaker's presentation. The next month, there might be
only 8-10 attendees for an intimate critique session or writing exercise.
It's always a surprise.
Founded on July 23, 1956,
in Dallas, Texas, SWWC is
a club for ALL writers,
regardless of experience or ambition.
Our members range in age from 20 to 88,
and come from various backgrounds.
Our members write non-fiction, poetry, and fiction of every genre. Whether you write poems, articles, short stories, plays, scripts, or novels,
you'll fit right in.
SWWC embraces diversity, respects ethnic differences, & values members on their own merits
& character. Therefore, it does not support a dollar-based respect system, such as "silver, gold & platinum" members. All members pay the same annual dues & are treated equally.
We go home and WRITE, which is the whole point! Why don't you come by and join us for
a meeting - to see what you think? It might just be the most comfortable and creative environment you've ever found!

* If you could choose between wealth, power, or bliss, which would you choose, & why?
* If you learned you had 30 days to live, how would you spend the time?
* What do you want written on your headstone or said in your eulogy?
* Ask a friend to write down 10 words {at random}, each word on a slip of paper. Then
turn the slips face down, & draw 5 words. Use these 5 as the basis for a short story.
* Write a few pages of a journal about a life you are not living.
* Flip through a magazine & write fictional paragraphs about the photos you select.
