| WELCOME!
... to the Souths Gaelic Football &
Hurling Club website. Souths was established in 1983, won the inaugural Queensland Gaelic Football Association (QGFA) Championship Grand Final, and has been the most successful Gaelic Football club in Queensland over the twenty-four year history of the QGFA. In total the Magpies have won ten Senior (A-grade) Championship Grand Finals (more than twice as many as any other club). Over the past eight seasons Souths teams have won eight QGFA Championship Grand Finals. Our Women's team has played in three of the past five Grand Finals (winning one) and our Senior team has featured in five of the past seven Grand Finals, winning three of the past six QGFA Championship titles.
We currently have Men's and Women's and under-15 teams playing in QGFA competitions. New players are always welcome. If you are interested in playing
for Souths, please send us an email.
Former Souths man playing for Carlow County
John Hayden, a member of the 2001 Championship-winning Souths Senior men's team is now playing Gaelic football at the highest level in Ireland, for County Carlow. On 22/1/08 Carlow came from behind to earn a thrilling draw with Dublin in extra time of their O'Byrne Cup clash. Hayden is pictured above (on left; source the Irish Independent website). Well done John!
