| Millions of people reach for the newspaper every morning to find out the latest news in their town, state, country and even the world. But how trustworthy is “the truth”? Unfortunately, journalists have gotten a bad reputation and some people don’t believe all of what they read in the newspaper. Most who do not believe the news have had negative experiences with journalists. Very often, the problem they had with the journalist had something to do with an unethical practice. These include: · Misquoting a source · Quoting information that is “off the record” · Showing bias towards one side or the other · Printing facts that are faulty, or false. · Intruding in a family’s time of crisis in order to get a story or take a picture. |
