Introduction

Welcome to the Web Site about my hometown Bosanski Brod and myself. I have no idea how you 've got here but hopefully you will find something useful and interesting on this site. I have found some time to re-design the Web site and I hope that you 'll like it. As I 've already mentioned, this site is simple about Bosanski Brod and mostly about me. So if you get bored fairly quickly, this is probably because of too much stuff about me. In this case I would suggest to quickly go to other pages that are about Bosanski Brod as they are far more interesting.

Bosanski Brod - Bosnia and Herzegovina

Bosnia and Herzegovina is a country in southeastern Europe with Sarajevo as the capital city. It has a population of 4 354 911. Former republic of Yugoslavia, Bosnia declared its independence in 1992, causing war to break out in the country. In 1995 Dayton Peace Agreement was signed and Bosnia is now a complex country divided into two entities Republika Srpska and Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bosanski Brod is a city situated in the northern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Republika Srpska Entity) on the Sava river and it is located on the border with Croatia. It has a population of 20-25 000 people.

It is interesting fact that "before the war, the average income in the Bosanski Brod municipality was one of the highest in former Yugoslavia. This was mainly linked to the Oil Refinery, which provided a basis for economic prosperity on both sides of the Sava River. Among other industries are a metal factory, a textile factory producing socks, an agricultural company and a brickyard. Local industries are working at roughly 10-20% of their pre-war capacity."(Source ::: Repatriation Information Centre :::).

Bosanski Brod has a temperate continental climate, with dry hot summers, and cold winters, with little snow.

Where am I now?

I moved to Frankston (Melbourne, Australia) four years ago (has it already been so long ???) but I am a proud Bosanski Brod citizen and will always be. At the same time I have to say that I am proud that I am an Australian citizen too. Although, I left my country and my town 15 years ago, I still have vivid memories of my childhood.

If it weren't war I would be there for sure working in Oil Refinery, playing soccer in Polet (if I were good enough) and having a good time. I will never forget my primary school days and my class 82, and then my High School in Slavonski Brod, disco in Hotel Ada, friends, and so on,and so on... I grew up in Drago Vidosevic street where I lived till 87 when I moved to Bijele zgrade (new buildings next to the hospital). Senad (Ganija), Slaven (Sharan), Samir (Muratovic), Goran, Kreso, Pindzo, Simo, Zani (Isus), Adis (Kurbeg), Pista(Damir) are just some of the friends who lived in Drago Vidosevic street. Now, they are all over the world (Germany, Australia, USA, Sweden, Danemark) but some of them still live in Bos. Brod. One of my biggest friends was Dejan (Soldan) who now lives in Germany. Unfortunately I had to leave my hometown in 93' because of war and that is why I have decided to dedicate this web site to one and only Bosanski Brod.

Still work to do !!!

This Web Site is still under construction as I am working on both versions in Bosnian (Serbian/Croatian) and English simultaneously (when I have a time, which is not very often). For now, most of the materials will be available from my old web site which was in the Bosnian (Serbian/Croatian) language, so those of you who cannot understand it, please be patient as the full English and Bosnian(Serbian/Croatian) versions will be completed soon. I 've got the feeling that I am repeating myself all the time???? Anyway explore the links on your left side and enjoy my web site....

When I think a while ago there were not many web sites dedicated to our hometown. But luckily this is not the case anymore. It is great to see that many people have dedicated and made a web site about our Bosanski Brod. Yes I agree that Bosanski Brod is a small and not very exciting town (it was exciting to me, though) but it has deserved not to be forgotten even if we are so far from Brod and will maybe never go back.

Below is the list of web sites about Bosanski Brod. If you know about any other, please let me know, and I will be more than happy to update the list. So enjoy the surfing......

TOP BROD LINKS

Here is the list of my "favorite" links:

Brod's citizens in Australia
There are many people from Bosanski Brod who live in Frankston, Australia. Frankston is the suburb some 40 km from Melbourne and it has become a hometown for nearly 400 former Brod's citizens.

We are currently undertaking the research to find out exactly how many families are here and to post their contacts (of course with their permission) on this web site. This will be our small contribution to the Bosanski Brod online community.

bbforumYou can find much more about Bosanski Brod and discuss about everything with Brodjanima on the official Bosanski Brod Forum. It is the best place to meet old and new friends. If you have never been there before, you will be surprised how many people actively participate in the discussions about our hometown.

Politics, Sports, Music, Love are just some of the many interesting forum's topics.... You can go there by clicking on the link below:
