Materials: worsted weight yarn in 2 colors:
Variegated and Off White

Crochet Hook: Size G

Size: 6" square
 
 
 

Special Instructions::

V-Stitch - hdc, ch 1, hdc all in same stitch

Rnd 4 instructions - insert hook from back to front under ch3 then from front to back between the two sc from rnd 3, then yarn over and pull hook back through.  This will leave the Ch3 loops laying on top of the square.
 

Square:

Rnd 1    -    With variegated ch 5, join with ss to form ring.  Ch 3, hdc in ring (first v-stitch made), (ch 2, v-stitch in ring)7 times, ch 1, join with sc in 2nd ch of beginning Ch3.(8 v-stitches, 8 Ch2 spaces))

Rnd 2    -    SS in same stitch as joining; ch 3, hdc in same space, ch 2 (v-stitch in next Ch2 space, ch 2)7 times, join with ss in 2nd ch of beginning Ch3.  (8 v-stitches, 8 Ch2 spaces)

Rnd 3    -    SS in ch1 space of next v-stitch, ch 1, sc, ch 3, sc in same space; (sc, ch 3 sc) in each Ch2 space and in each v-stitch Ch1 space around; join with ss in first sc.  Fasten off white.  (16 Ch3 spaces)

Rnd 4    -    Join white with ss in any Ch3 space (following instructions above for how to insert hook on this round);  ch 4, (hdc in next space, ch 2) 15 times; join with ss in 2nd ch of beginning Ch4.  (16 hdc, 16 Ch2 spaces)

Row 5    -    SS in next Ch2 space; ch 4, dc, ch 2, dc, ch1 dc all in same space; *(2 hdc in  next Ch2 space)3 times, dc, ch 1, dc, ch2, dc, ch 1 dc in next Ch2 space for corner; repeat from *2 more time; (2hdc in next Ch2 space)3 times, join with ss in 3rd ch of beginning Ch4. ( 16 dc, 24 hdc)

Row 6    -    SS in next Ch1 space, ch 3, *v-stitch, ch 2, v-stitch for corner; [hdc in next Ch1 space, ch 1, (sk next hdc, hdc in next hdc)]3 times, hdc in next Ch1 space, Repeat from * 2 more times, then work between [ ] once; join with ss in 2nd chain of beginning Ch3.  Fasten off white.  (8 v-stitches, 20 hdc)

Row 7    -   Join variegated w ith ss in any Ch1 space; Ch 2, hdc in same space, *2 hdc in each ch 1 space to corner; in corner work 2 hdc ch 3, 2 hdc; repeat from * around; join with ss in 2nd ch of beginning Ch2.  (80 hdc, 4 ch3 spaces)
