Grandma's Sunflower**Materials: worsted weight yarn in 3 colors:
Yellow, Brown and GreenCrochet Hook: Size G
Size: 7" square
With brown, Ch 4 join with ss to form ring
R1 - Ch 1, 8 sc in ring; join with ss for first sc (8sc)
R2 - Pull up the loop already on hook to about 1/2" (YO, insert hook in same stitch, YO and pull up a loop) 3 times, YO and draw through all 7 loops on hook, Ch 1 to close cluster (puff stitch made); Ch 1, *(puff stitch, Ch1) twice in next sc, puff stitch, Ch1 in next sc; repeat from * around; join with ss in top of first puff stitch (12 puff stitches and 12 Ch1 spaces)
R3 - Ch 1, sc in same stitch; sc in each puff stitch and each chain space around; join with ss in first sc. Fasten off brown (24 sc)
R4 - With yellow, join w ss in front loop of any sc; Ch 1; in front loop of same stitch, work sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc (petal made) *skip next stitch, work petal in front loop only of next stitch; repeat from * around; join with ss in top of first sc. (12 petals)
R5 - (Working behind Rnd 4 and in back loops only of skipped stitches) SS in back loop of first skipped sc of Rnd 4; Ch1 sc in same stitch; Ch3 *skip next stitch, sc in back loop of next skipped stitch, Ch3; repeat from * around; join with ss in first sc. (12 sc and 12 Ch3 loops)
R6 - In same sc as joining work Ch2, dc, trc, dc, hdc (petal made), sc in next Ch3 loop *ss in next sc, work petal in same stitch, sc in next Ch3 loop; repeat from * around; join with ss in same sc as first petal. (12 petals and 12 sc)
R7 - (Working behind petals of Round 6) Ch3, *sc in next sc between petals, ch 3; repeat from * around with sc in last sc; join with ss to joining stitch of last round. Fasten off yellow. (12 sc and 12 Ch3 loops)
R8 - With green, join with ss in any Ch3 loop; Ch3 (counts as first dc), dc, ch 3 2dc in same space (beginning corner made); *Ch2, (sc in next loop, Ch 2) twice; in next loop work 2dc, Ch3, 2dc (corner made); repeat from * around; join with ss in top of beginning Ch. (16dc, 8sc, 12 Ch2 spaces, 4 ch3 spaces = 60 stitches)
R9 - SS in next stitch and in next Ch3 space; work beginning corner; *Ch2, (2dc in next loop, Ch 2) 3 times; in next loop work corner; repeat from * around join with ss in top of beginning Ch. (40 dc, 16 Ch2 spaces, 4 Ch3 spaces = 84 stitches)
R10 - SS in next stitch and in next Ch3 space; work beginning corner; *Ch2, (2dc in next loop, Ch 2) 4 times; in next loop work corner; repeat from * around join with ss in top of beginning Ch. (48dc, 20 Ch2 spaces, 4 Ch3 spaces = 100 stitches)
R11 - Ch2, hdc in next stitch; in corner work 2hdc, Ch3, 2hdc (corner made); *work hdc in each dc and hdc in each Ch2 space to next corner; repeat from * around join with ss in top of beginning Ch. Fasten off green (84 hdc and 4 Ch3 spaces = 96 stitches)
