Hello And Welcome to My Genealogy Site!

Here I am saying "Hello" to my Great-Great Grandmother, Nancy Ann (Sweat) Williams.  Annie, her husband Rowland, their daughter Sarah Jane and her husband, James Washington Mathis were among the first settlers of the Peace River Valley arriving from Columbia Co., Florida in 1858 after the territory was opened for expansion after the last of the Seminole Indian Wars.

Annie was born on May 13, 1822 in Tattnall Co., Georgia, the daughter of Abner Sweat (1776-1858) and Rebecca Anderson (1790). Both Abner and Rebecca were born in South Carolina.

After Roland Williams died in 1867, Annie and her younger children along with her older children and their families moved to Fisheating Creek on the Florida Prarie, near present day Arcadia, where they homesteaded farms. Four of her sons served in the War Between the States.

Anne applied and recieved a Widows Pension based on her husbands Indian War Service and drew it until her death on April 12, 1908.

She is buried in the Fort Ogden Cemetary in Desoto County, lying next to her daughter Sarah Jane, her grandson, Henry Washington Mathis and her daughter-in-law Sarah Ann (Gaskins) Williams. Most of her fourteen children are also buried in the cemetary.

I am researching the Williams, Mathis, Parrish and Goff's. These families have had close ties since the 1800's.  They all came from Virginia, migrating to North Carolina, then to Georgia and Florida.
Also the Monk and Sweats from South Carolina.

Seeking information on Will's Borden family from Maryland, and the Hoffman's from the same area.  Bertold Hoffman emigrated from Germany in the mid 19th century. Help!!!
