Chapter Eight
The First Harvest Festival,
Part 2 And Crystal said, "Let there be Autumn!" Introduction
Hello, everyone. It's time for me to continue tales of The Sims of the New World. If you have missed the last stories and don't know what has already happened, no problem. Simply click HERE to go to The FantaSim Tales Archive. Recently, I've told you stories of what those first few years were like for the Fae and the Neofae after JyM was sent away for a thousand years by her brother, The Supreme Being. The NeoFae are finding their own place on Gaia just fine, the Orange Fae have found love and have started families, and a few more Fae have evolved from Orange to Blue. Oh, and human kind, the children of the Supreme Being, have finally arrived on Gaia. Things got very interesting in the last story. Although Crystal has tried very hard to become the most important Fae with her sisters and "the false ones", some of her attempts at total control have failed. But, things are about to change for Crystal.
The Sims of the New World Sistergirl, storyteller Sorry, there will be no new chapter again this month. Life situations and other Sim challenges are keeping me away. Keep checking back. This is a good time to read any past chapters you may have missed. Hope to see you soon. :-)
The weather was always constant in the little region of Gaia where the Fae and the Neo Fae lived. Their mother, the Goddess JyM, made sure of that when she created the Fae and placed them on the piece of Gaia that her brother had given her as her own.
Yet, Crystal had seen rain in the tropical regions of Gaia, and snow and ice on her northern point.
This precipitation from the atmosphere had always intrigued Crystal. She had noticed a long time ago that the rain, snow and ice were all made up of simple water. She also became aware that the water from the sky was sometimes warm, but often cool, and sometimes frozen. It fell from the sky to help nourish Gaia and to replenish her many streams, rivers, lakes and the great oceans. In some places, it is a constant condition, with very little time between each occurrence. And it fell on Gaia almost everywhere, but never in her homeland.
And with the cool and frozen water came a change in Gaia, Crystal noted. It was this change that interested Crystal the most.
Crystal could not control Gaia. She knew this instinctively and had never even tried to do so. But, imitating Gaia was something different. And imitating what fell onto Gaia was also, most definitely, something different.
For months, she practiced and practiced in the privacy of her personal rest area, until she achieved what she wanted. And when the time was right, when she became utterly annoyed with her Orange sisters and their loving husbands and their little families living in their little separate spaces, she began to slowly cool the temperature of the entire area where the Children of JyM resided.

At first, when the Fae and the NeoFae realized they were feeling a little chilly, they simply covered their bodies with warmer clothing.
During a community meeting, the Orange Fae decided to
asked their magical sisters for help on this matter. However,
not a single Blue Fae wanted to listen at first, acting resentful
that they were being bothered. After all, the Blue Fae were
able to keep themselves warm simply by thinking warm thoughts,
and were too preoccupied to understand why the cooling
temperatures was so troublesome to anyone else. However, as
the Orange Fae insisted, and, since Crystal didn't make any
outward objection, Babie and Bluebelle finally agreed to dressed
their sisters and their families in a thicker Fae clothe that would
cover most of their bodies. But, they made it quite clear that their
sisters must attend to their own affairs and not be bothering them
with every little thing that would come up in the future.
In the meantime, since the NeoFae had no magical abilities, they had to rely on their own resources. It was Emeralda who knew what to do. She had already developed a large loom to create cloth from plant fibers to replace the old clothes as the children grew. She had recycled the cloth their Mother had first dressed them in for the new baby. In addition, Emeralda had already trained Jaida, Jade and Greenley on how to process the plant, used the loom, and create clothing. Now she was excited to try out her new idea of somehow incorporating the fur she had been gathering from shedding animals with the plant fibers. And, just as she thought would happen, the new cloth she created was thicker and warmer. The four women set about making warmer clothes for everyone.
