Astral Projection

What is Astral Projection?
Astral Projection is, basically, seperating your body and visiting other planes of existence. How do we do that? well, we have a Semi-transparent double of our body, with its own set of chakras, and it is connected to your physical body by a silver cord. With practice, YOU can do this.
There may be several different reasons for doing this, you may use it to overcome a fear of dying, you may just be curious, you may feel that this may open many spiritual possibilities for you. You can even arrange to meet a friend in the Astral and have a journey together. The possibilities are endless, only you make the boundaries.
Now, i'll start off by giving you the information on the planes of existence.


The Seven Planes of Existence.
Many Occultists belive that there are seven different planes'levels of existence. Some of these can be accessed during Astral Travel. Below is each plane with its name and a short description.
1)
Physical Plane
This is the everyday plane. In the physical plane is also the 'etheric plane' which would explain why people experiencing OBE's (Out of Body Experiences) stay close to the Earth plane, since in a OBE they are holding alot of etheric matter. This plane can be visited during Astral Projection.
2)
Astral Plane
This is where all of our hopes, dreams, and desires become reality, thus making this the emotional plane. You would see many different creatures here, Faeries, devas, etc. Things here are also changeable. Time and space are distorted here, So travelling through the past or into the future is pretty easy here. An hour in the Astral plane can be five minutes on the Earth plane. Simply imagining something can cause it to form.
3)
Mental Plane
This is aplane full of colours and rainbows. If you find yourself in this plane, dont try to make sense of it, cause its a difficult task. This plane, is full of thoughts and ideas, manifested as real objects. You may be travelling through your own thoughts, or you could be travelling through someone elses. This plane overlaps alot with the Astral plane. Time here is also distorted, but even more here than the Astral plane. This plane is more harder to reach than the previous two, but nevertheless, achieveable.
4)
Buddhic Plane
This plane is very powerful, full of love and peace. If you ever manage to reach this plane, you probably never want to come back. In this plane, you feel as if you are one with everything, so individuality doesn't mean a thing here. Occultists believe this as being the last plane that humans can reach.
5)
Atmic Plane
Here, there is no individuality. This is a very spiritual plane, and filled with radiant silver light that us as humans would find impossible to look at without being blinded. Reaching this plane would seem very bright, yet soft and filled with love. Some people have claimed to reach this plane.
6)
Anupadaka Plane
This is definately a plane that would drive a person insane. Everything here is part of everything else, like great paradoxes tied together. Millions of being reside here.
7(
Adi Plane
The highest plane of the seven. We could never understand this plane with our limited thinking. This is the realm of Everything and complete Oneness.

{There are also belived to be sub-planes in between each of the seven main Planes. Some say that there are seven of them for each plane.}

Now, i have given you a brief discription on the planes, i will give you some Preperation and Methods. I will not be held responsible hereon by anybodys actions, so if i were you, i'd look into this topic alot more before getting into this without all of the information. I am only giving you basic information. I am telling you this for YOU, because if you jump into this and you experience something you did not learn about, you might be upset, and scared etc, and there is no need to be scared of this. You might never want to do it again for bad reasons, so i strongly advise you to read up on as much as you can before you start.
Now that we have that sorted out, here are some preperations to help you induce Astral Projection.

Preperation for Astral Projection
Environment- This is very improtant in Astral Projection. especially for beginners. Find a comfortable and quiet place for your practice. Choose a place where you are least likely to be disturbed. If you are worried that you could be disturbed, chances are you may not be ralxed enough to get very far, so be wise about the time and place you do this. If you have a phone, disconnect it for a while. Also, you can use soft music to block out smaller noises, dont use music thats catchy or has lyrics because you tend to concentrate on those instead. Make sure your body will be at a comfortable temperature, you do not want to be too hot, or too cold. you can use a blanket if you think you may get cold during projection. Also, keep your clothes loose and comfortable.
Posture- You must find a comfortable position before attempting projection. Experiment with different posture. Something that may seem comfortable for five minutes, may not be comfortable later on.  I suggest that you make sure  your spine is straight during this as it will allow your energy to flow uninterrupted through your body.
Proper Breathing- This is really important, focus on you breathing for a second, if you find yourself breathing through your chest, you are not breathing properly. If your shoulders are rising and falling with each breath, you are not breathing properly. Proper breathing should come from your diaphragm. Try focusing on different breathing patterns and see which one works best for you, but remember, that it should be from your diaphragm, not your chest.
Meditation- Successful projection requires an altered state of consciousness. You want to be ralxed enough that your physical body falls asleep, but your mind is conscious and alert.  Meditation is great preperation for Astral Projeaction because it will help you to relax your body and focus your mind. Once you have become successful in meditation, you will find that Astral Projection will become easier to you. Click on where it says 'Meditation' for and exercise meditation to try.
Chakra Cleansing and Balancing- Another thing to do in preperation to project, is cleansing and balancing you Chakras.

Protective measures- There are several measures that you can take, you can do a simple prayer asking for protection while you project, but the feelings you put behind them are more important than the words you wish to choose. You can also ask your guides to be with you. And another is to visualise a protection bubble around your physical and Astral body ( like the one you use in magick) or a shining white light surrounding you body.
Progressive Relaxation- This is a great way to release any tension you may have. Start with you toes and tighten them up, hold for a few seconds, then relax. work your way up your body doing this with each part. Another on to try is , starting with your toes, visualize and feel every muscle in you tes relaxing, work your way up the body doing it with every muscle. I fell asleep on my first experience of the latter exercise.
Keeping a Journal- I suggest you keep a journal dedicated only to you Astral Projection. You may think you can remember everything thats happens, but they fade just as quickly as dreams do. So keeping this will help you remember things, learn things, and overcome troubles you may be having with it. This will help you a great deal.

Methods/exercises to induce Astral Projection
Rope Method- Visualise a rope coming from your most active chakra, see it coming out from the place that seems most comfortable to you. Dont try to actually 'see' the rope, visualise climbing the rope in darkness, so that you are only feeling what you are doing. Imagine you are reaching out and climbing the rope. After a while, you may feel a movenment in you hands or torso. Try not to focus on the sensations you are feeling, but keep focused on what your doing.
Hypnogogic Method- The hypnogogic state can be discribed as the state between sleep and waking, in which images and sounds go through your mind lasting only a few seconds each. You're still semi-conscious in this state, so Astral Projection can be acheived here. Transform a picture, colour, shape, ect. into a portal in which you can begin Astral Travel. For example, take one of the pictures that are floating around, and mentally transform it into a tunnel, door, window, etc. and step in to them like they are bridges to the astral plane.
Vibrational Method- Many times you may feel vibrations or a buzzing sound as you are close to seperating from your physical body. In this method, you must imagine that you are hearimg a buzzing sound. After a while, you may actually hear the buzzing sound without having to imagine it. Slowly try to raise the pitch so that it matches that of your astral body. You will probably begin to feel the vibrations, and as you raise the pitch of the buzzing sound, you will also raise the vibrations you are feeling, until you feel you are ready to seperate.
