| Glenfiddich means ‘Valley of the Deer’, hence the company’s emblem of the stag. Bottled in the distinctive triangular bottle from 1957, this Single Malt Whisky is considered uncomplicated, balanced and smooth, which appeals to most. The distillery religiously adheres to a high standard of quality in production and continues to fire its pot stills with coal fires, ferment its wort in Douglas Fir mash tuns, distill through small stills (some consider smaller to be better) and even wash its bottles in their source of water – the Robby Dhu Springs. |
| Glenfiddich is the best known single malt in the world. It maintains about a 30% world market share for all malt whiskies. The “early” and brave decision in 1963 to aggressively market its whisky worldwide as a Single Malt Whisky was unprecedented. This decision is a contributing reason for the unparalleled market presence of Glenfiddich in the world today. In the autumn of 1886, William Grant purchased some land in the valley of the River Fiddich, in Speyside, deep in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. Here, he and his family built The Glenfiddich Distillery with their own hands, labouring long and hard to make an ambitious dream a reality. At last, on Christmas Day 1887, the very first Glenfiddich spirit ran from the stills. Today the distillery is still owned by the original founding family. |
