We are thankful to all the individuals and organizations who help to support the Shelby County ARC. Your donations to the ARC make many programs and services available to individuals with developmental disabilities in Shelby County. Individuals that support the ARC generally fall into one of the following categories:
Parent/Relative Self Advocate Professional In-Field Caring Citizen ----------------------------------------- GENERAL SUPPORTER $10.00-$20.00
For those community members who are interested in helping provide financial support. ------------------------------------------ INDIVIDUAL OR FAMILY MEMBERSHIP $25.00 Annual donation   ($5.00 increase due to increase in state/national dues)
For individuals who are interested in the programs and services that ARC offers. You will receive information on disabilities, information on special programs and legislative activities. ------------------------------------------ CORPORATE/ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORTER $40.00+ donation
For companies and organizations that would like to contribute to the ARC. ------------------------------------------ OTHER TYPES OF DONATIONS
Shelby County ARC collects used printer cartridges and then sends them to a company to be recycled. ARC then gets a check from the company and that money goes to support the programs and services of the ARC. If your company or organization would like to donate it's used printer cartridges, please contact us at (937) 497-8155, extension 237. All donations are greatly appreciated!

Shelby County ARC is a United Way sponsored agency. The objective of the ARC is to ensure that all citizens with developmental disabilities progress to their fullest potential.
Membership fees and United Way contributions are applied directly to assisting families and individuals who must face the challenge of mental retardation or other developmental disabilities. The ARC program is overseen by a Volunteer Board of Trustees, which includes friends and parents of individuals with handicapping conditions and an Executive Director.

PROGRAMS AND SERVICES OFFERED
PUBLIC SCHOOL SPECIAL EDUCATION GRANTS
ARC provides financial grants to classes for students with disabilities in Shelby County and the Sidney City Schools.
PARENT'S NIGHT OUT PROGRAM
Parent�s Night Out serves a dual purpose: To give parents a night to themselves while their adult child can participate in some fun social and recreational activities.
THE ARC LIBRARY
Click here to see the ARC library resources The ARC Library, located at Shelby Hills, makes books and other resource materials about disabilities available, free of charge to the public. ANYBODY is welcome to use these resources.
EMERGENCY GRANT ASSISTANCE
Thanks to a special Grant from the Shelby County United Way and money received through the Bensman Foundation, Shelby County ARC established an Emergency Grant Assistance Fund in 2003. This fund is used for individuals who are in need of special adaptive or medical devices which insurance or other money does not cover. Application is required.
SHELBY HILLS PRESCHOOL AND S & H PRODUCTS
The ARC provides funding for special needs in these programs such as for materials and recreation programs.
RECREATIONAL/SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
Limited access for persons with developmental disabilities to social activities limits enjoyment of a full life. ARC provides funding to make opportunities available. YMCA memberships, sports activities, and a variety of other social functions provide a better quality of life.
THE ARC SECURITY LIFE INSURANCE PLAN
The ARC Security Life Insurance Plan which can provide up to $100,000 coverage for individuals that may have a difficult time getting other types of life insurance coverage.
OTHER MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS
As an ARC member, you will receive up to date legislative information affecting programs for individuals with disabilities. You will also be informed of quarterly programs in Shelby County regarding disabilities issues. Also, if you are interested, you will receive important legislative information by e-mail. We are always looking for ideas on how to serve the individuals in our community better and we welcome any ideas you may have. Our organization applies for many grants during the year and if you know of special needs that our community has regarding disabilities issues, please let us know and we can apply for those types of grants.
