Starkville High alum to appear on CBS series 'The Hack'
By DEVIN JONES/Starkville Daily News

A former Starkville High School graduate will be on a television series on CBS called "Hack" this Saturday, February 7, at 8 p.m.
Shane McRae is a former student of retired Starkville High theater teacher Paula Mabry.
He got started in acting by performing in plays at Starkville High and attending New York University and getting an agent. He received this part because his agent got him an audition with the show, McRae said.
"I received a phone call a couple of days later after the audition that I got this part," said McRae.
"Your agent gets you auditions and you have to make the best of the audition when you get them."
McRae started in the Broadway production "Take Me Out" in July of last year which won best play in the Tony's for 2003.
The show closed in January. McRae played the part of comic relief in the play by playing a rookie catcher for a baseball team who was not very smart.
"Even as a high school student Shane showed a certain charisma on stage that most high school students don't have," said Mabry. "I am not surprised that he was in the Broadway play or in Hack."
"Hack" is about an ex-cop who was released from the police force for stealing money from a crime scene. He is now a taxi driver who seeks redemption for his professional and personal missteps by fighting for and righting the wrongs of others.
The show is set in Philadelphia, Penn. The main character is Mike Olshansky played by David Moore.
McRae will be a guest star on Saturday's show. He plays Chris Olshansky, a cousin of the main character who is having a hard time adjusting to life back home after being in Iraq and feels his only option is to kill himself.
"I am totally excited and terrified about the part at the same time," said Mcrae. "It is going to be hard watching myself on television."
McRae graduated from Starkville High School in 1995. He attended Mississippi State University for a year and transferred to the University of Evansville in Indiana where he received his bachelor of fine arts degree. He also attended New York University where he received his masters of fine art in May of 2003.
"Shane is a kindhearted, thoughtful and personable young man," said Mayry. "I am really proud of him."
McRae is the son of the former Dean of Architecture of Mississippi State University, Mr. John McRae, and Mrs. Sharon McRae. They now live in Washington, D.C., and John works at the American Institute of Architecture.
"We are excited to see Shane doing so well straight out of school," said his sister Kellie Mcrae.
"I can't wait to see what happens next."
Shane is now living in Los Angeles, Calif. for the next couple of months auditioning for parts.
