First Dates

Here is a brief history from our first date till our civil ceremony

First date

Saturday, February 19, 2005

Michael and Cara met for the first time at synagogue.
8 hours later they agreed to meet again the next week

2nd date... and something about China

Saturday, February 26, 2005

Met again at synogogue.
Michael mentioned that he was moving to China in 6 months.
We realized a focused dating plan would be required.
16 hours later, decided a third date was in order

What a nice man, I wonder if we will ever get to see him again?

Friday, March 04, 2005

Michael met Cara's parents when they came through town on their way to Bahamas.

1 month

Friday, March 18, 2005

One month after their first meeting, Michael met some Winnipeg cousins who were in DC for a meeting and they welcomed him to the family. The fun part was they thought they were making a joke.

Moving along

Sunday, April 24, 2005

Now that we had known each other for 2 months, we decided it was time to get married.
Cara was in State College for Passover, so the final decision was made over the phone.

Two months together was enough

Friday, April 29, 2005

Cara left for a 3 week vacation to Australia with her parents. Michael stayed home and kept working.

I have just a few relatives...

Saturday, May 21, 2005

Michael flew to Winnipeg to get interrogated by Cara's family. They used the cover of another family wedding to lure him into their grasp. He managed to survive on his own for over 3 hours before Cara showed up to help protect him, or at least to share the questions.

Luckily Michael was only exposed to a few of the cousins, aunts, and uncles. There were probably not much more than 30 or so for the first dinner at any rate.

Amazingly, Michael enjoyed the weekend and still thought that becoming legally bound to this family was a good idea.

3 months

Thursday, May 26, 2005

Cara and Michael drove to Ohio (in separate cars. Well really, a car and a motorcycle) and Cara met some of Michael's siblings and hometown friends. She was also not scared away.

Friday dinner

Friday, June 03, 2005

All of Michael and Cara's immediate family met for the first time. There was much rejoicing.

Civil ceremony

Saturday, June 04, 2005

Spent the day relaxing and taking in the city followed by a nice dinner out.
Held a civil wedding service around the officiant's pool and then went back to the hotel to relax and talk the night away.
There was much rejoicing
