If Only She Was There.....
....the world could have seen an Egyptian beauty as enchanting as the Nile, as seducing as that of Cleopatra.
Sarah Shaheen of Egypt never crossed in our mind to be a strong contender. Well in fact we didn't include her in our predictions.
So how did we come up with this? When we started poring over on who shall be our "If she was only there..." girl for the year 2001, we were stuck in choosing between Miss South Korea Sa-Rang Kim and Miss Philippines Zorayda Ruth Andam. But given the former's gown and the latter's swimsuit performance we looked and looked for the deserving woman.

Until we stumbled upon this
webpage.
What makes her so beautiful for us? Let us start with the soft pink-purple gown which absolutely projected her aura to the maximum. She is definitely Arab and she looks radiant and sparkling at all times.

Most of the time we don't worry ourselves by giving close attention to some countries like Egypt. Well you can't blame us! When we speak of Egypt the first thing that comes into our mind is that it is a Moslem country with pyramids and deserts. We thought there are no beauty pageants at Egypt until in 1994 when Ghada El-Salem represented this Middle Eastern nation.

This time we made a big mistake. IT TOOK US QUITE SOMETIME TO FIGURE OUT THAT SHAHEEN IS A MATERIAL TOP TEN!
Great poise with tantalizing and seducing eyes makes us realize how stupid we are to overlook her. Her swimsuit performance is great and she has the nice body and great poise to charm everyone! The greatest asset of Shaheen perhaps are her naturally shining eyes and her flowing Arabic hair. Some missosologists who saw her in person swear that they saw Shaheen as a woman of character and elegance!

And why she wasn't at the top ten? Unfortunately, most of the judges precisely think on what we are thinking. Egypt does not equate into a beauty pageant nation. Given to the heavy favoritisms at the 2001 Miss Universe, Sarah was simply swamped by nations with traditionally good performance at the pageant. This includes the not so convincing inclusion of Misses Russia and Israel. Shaheen is far superior from the two!

Nevertheless, Shaheen went on! It was reported that she finished as 16th perhaps the highest ranking that any Miss Egypt had obtained. She performed well and made her nation proud of her.

In a pageant won by Miss Puerto Rico Denise Quiñones,
(CLICK HERE FOR MISS U 2001) Shaheen can say she did her best and we knew if only she was there at the top ten, the entire evening would have been more charming!
