Placebo LiveJournal Moodtheme

So, for reasons unknown even to myself I took it into my head to create a Placebo moodtheme. This was the result. Because I'm one of those strange people who just can't go about things the easy way, each of the 132 moods has a different picture. To see the whole set, go here. Whilst I tried to use pictures of reasonable quality, they vary. Mostly because unlike creating a moodtheme with pictures from a television show or movie, getting "expressions" from a band requires use of more candid pictures, sometimes with lower quality. Like-wise, you will find far more pictures of Brian than either Stef or Steve. This has little to do with my fangirlism, but rather a) pictures of Brian are far, far easier to come by and b) in most photos, be they professional, candid, screenshots or otherwise, Stef and Steve are usually straight-faced while Brian pulls some more interesting faces. But I digress.

Using the theme...
Yes, you can use the theme if you wish (remember: it only works on paid accounts) but please tell me via email or by leaving a comment here, just so I can keep track. :)

Instructions
1. Download the zip file (that's right-click and save target, people). This includes the icons themselves and a .txt file.
2. Unzip the file.
3. Upload the pictures to your site/host. Don't bother trying to use the ones on display here, Geocities isn't very cooperative. I keep the ones on my journal elsewhere.
4. Open setpics.txt and do a "find/replace" on "www.yourwebsite.com" to the appropriate address.
5. Before you do this step, make sure you are logged into LiveJournal. Go to the command console. Type in this: moodtheme_create "Mia's Placebo Theme" "Placebo Moodtheme" and click execute. If all goes well you will be told your moodtheme has been created. You will also be given an ID#. Write it down, you'll need it in a moment.
6. Go back to the setpic.txt file. Do another "find/replace" this time with ***** and the ID# you were given.
7. Copy and paste the entire contents of the setpic.txt file into the command console box. Click execute. If it works you should get a whole list of commands that say you were successful.
8. Go to the modify journal page. Scroll down to "select mood icon set" and look for the one named "Mia's Placebo Theme" (it should be down the bottom). Click "submit changes".

You're done! Hopefully it worked. ;)

Updated! (24/4/04)
I recently created about 25 alternate mood pictures. Mostly on a whim. They're either more interesting or more appropriate, most of them are from newer pictures, too. To use them, right-click and save target this zip file. Open it up and take all the number 2s out of the file names (I needed to have slightly different names to differentiate between these and the originals). Go to your image host, delete only the icons which you wish to replace and upload the replacements. The replacement icons will appear in your journal because they will have the same file names as the previous ones, so you don't have to stuff around with creating new moodsets on LJ.

You can view the updated icons here

Credit Where Credit's Due...
My collection of Placebo pictures is quite large (which is part of the reason I decided to do this) and the pictures in it are taken from just about everywhere. If you recognise a picture and would like credit, feel free to email me. Below are some sites I know I have taken pictures from. I'm sure there are others as I tend to collect Placebo pictures wherever I find them.
