During the summer of 2002, a group was formed on the internet to recreate the 26 books Prospero was allowed in his exile - as mentioned in Shakespeare's The Tempest and more fully described by Peter Greenaway in his film Prospero's Books (those interested can find out more about the project here) As the books were completed, some in the group decided to carry on with further collaborations, including this one based on Greenaway's film The Pillow Book. The text of the 13 books written on skin and sent to Nagiko's duplicitous publisher was used as inspiration for the works created by 10 people over a period of 6 months. The pieces have been gathered together here in Laramie for an exhibition at the Gem City Clayworks and then will be disbursed, each contributor receiving another's work ~ though they will remain together here...
