Chants and lullabies...
What's a child ready to learn?
Simple magic or simply magic?
What is magic to a child?
Blowing out a birthday candle and making a wish. Winking at the moon. The leaves changing color in the fall, a snake shedding its skin, and a bird learning to fly. A catterpillar emerging from his cocoon, a flower blooming, and the turn of the seasons. All this and more is magic to a child. No fancy words, or candles, or ornate robes required. Just nature, at its purest.
So what magic can you do with a child? Sit on your porch and watch the sun set. Go to a feild to watch fireflies dancing about. Plant a garden, grow a tree. Bake bread, or cookies, or just a pumpkin pie. Tell stories, play make-believe, let your imagination run wild.
To children all things are magical. And isn't that how it should be? See the world through news eyes, watch a spider weave a web as if you have never seen one before. Drink lemonaide for the first time. Pick wildflowers that you've never heard of. Be a child yourself and let the magic of childhood flow into you.
The strongest magic that a child knows is you. You are their first connection to the divine, live up to that standard well. In their eyes your every action and every word is overflowing with magic. How else could you kiss a cut and make it disapear? How else can you fix the broken toys? How else can you make the world better again so many times over? You are the divine to a child.
There is no simple magic to a child. It is all simply magic.
