Q. What
F-150 models will an Expedition console fit in?
A. The Expedition console will fit into any model F-150 (RegularCab, SuperCab and SuperCrew) as long as it has
bucket seats.
Q. What is the difference
between an early model console and a current model one?
A. The Expedition consoles from ’97-’98 were narrower and work
with the F-150’s factory armrests. In
1999 Ford removed the armrests from the Expeditions and made a wider console. This causes problems for the F-150 owners,
though, because the F-150’s still have armrests. Many members have installed these wider
consoles and then removed the armrests.

A. Yes, the old style Expedition console can accomodate
the CD Changer for the newer style CD changer if you buy the older console CD
changer bracket. Part number is F75Z*18C835*AAA - $14.19. You will have to drill some holes in the new
bracket and make some modifications to the bottom pad for the console but it is
definitely better than using the SuperCrew bracket.
A. I have not done this or seen it in person but there is an owner
named davec73 over at F150World who has done it. Check out his gallery at http://fordtruckworld.tenmagazines.com/ew/mygallery.asp?id=456
Q. Can I do this mod if I have the 60/40 split bench?
A. Yes. See these links:

Also,
a fellow FordTruckWorld member named F111A has had his 60 portion of the bench
cut down, reupholstered and installed with an Expy console. Here are the part numbers he used:
F65Z
1561709 CAJ Seat pan, List $117.13, Net $87.85
YL3Z 1563100 BB Seat leg, List $70.98, Net $53.24
YL3Z 15603A86 BAA Seat handle, List $15.33, Net $11.50
The leg was the only part
that fit perfectly. The adjustment handle was backwards (possibly for the left
seat?) but he drilled some new holes and made it fit. The seat pan seemed a
little small for the foam cushion but worked OK.
Here is some more information from Marv:
The installation of the console really didn't take
long. The hardest part of the new console was cutting the new threads in the
mounting bushings on the tranny hump (the right side
ones). I found some metric bolts at Lowe's that matched the Ford threads and
used these to mount the console brackets to the hump. Once this was done, the
rest was easy. The bolts for the console bracket are M10, 1.50x25mm hex head
and M12, 1.75x25mm hex head. The Lowe's part numbers are 138212 and 138411,
respectively. I got the console from LWM and it came
with everything except the mounting bolts. All of the bolt holes are already installed in the truck but the unused ones have a
black plug that needs to be removed before the new bolts can be installed.
The seat conversion is the more challenging task because it requires cutting. Those who don't wish to tackle this could buy the parts and have an auto uphostery shop do the conversion. I'll bet they would do it for around a $100.00. I chose to do the disassembly, cutting and unstiching, but I had to have a shop sew the seat side and seat bottom together because my machine wouldn't sew the foam-backed fabric. Once this was done, I put everything together using the new seat pan, adjustment handle and leg. The adjustment handle must have been for a left side seat because the mounting holes were reversed...I drilled out the hole and made it fit. Also, the seat pan seemed to be a little rounded in the left front corner causing the foam cushion to stick out a little. I stuffed it with some extra foam and it fit OK. The hardest part is getting the seat fabric to attach to the new pan...the attchment points were a little off so I had to adjust things a little. Perhaps the seat pan I used (F65Z 1561709 CAJ) was for a different year truck.

A. Yes, but you have to have the passenger’s seat modified. Check out these links http://www.f150online.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=32105&highlight=console

A. Yes, a fellow F150online
member named GAH (George Hawthorn) has installed
mechanical Autometer gauges. His gauges include transmission temperature,
water temperature, oil pressure and oil temperature. He used a green “sock” on the bulbs so they
would match the dash. If you have any
questions for George his e-mail address is ghawthorn@hawaii.rr.com
