MY 1987 COUGAR TURBO COUPE

I got this car in May of 2006, to replace my Caprice as my daily driver because the camshaft went in the Caprice. Miss that car but all tings come to an end. it' was originally a Cougar LS V6, but obviously, not now.

Below is a picture of it:

MODIFICATIONS:

SHORTBLOCK: The shortblock is the original stock one, mileage unknown.

CYL HEAD/VALVETRAIN: Stock NON turbo small chamber cast iron head. This head has bumped the compression up to almost 10:1. Stock camshaft, cam pulley and valvetrain.

EXHAUST: Ported E6 manifold I did, Bob Lee [www.40bob.com] 3" wastegate housing into a 3" downpipe, and out and under the car into about 1 1/2 feet of 2 1/2" piping into a Magnaflow wide open muffler dumped at the axle.

TURBO/INTERCOOLER: Stock watercooled .48 T3 from an SVO and a tock T Bird I/C.

FUEL SYSTEM: Stock Brown top 35 lb injectors, Aeromotive adjustable regulator and guage, and 255 L/hr intank pump.

INTAKE/THROTTLE BODY/VAM/AIR FILTER: Stock 85.5 and later 4 square intakes and T/B, stock VAM with a Ractive cone filter.

IGNITION: Stock Motorcraft plugs, wires, coil, cap and rotor.

SUSPENSION & BRAKES: Front sway bar removed, stock front and rear coil springs, stock replacement rear shocks. Brakes are 100% stock.

REAR END: Stock 7.5" 3.45 trac-loc Turbo Coupe rear.

TRANSMISSION / CLUTCH / DRIVESHAFT: Stock.

WHEELS & TIRES: Weld Draglites all 4 corners, 15x8 in size, and 225 60 15 radials..

ECM/CHIPS: Stock LA3.

MISCELLANEOUS: Not a whole lot extra, car uses a Merkur harness to run the engine. Since the compression is higher than stock, I am limited to about 12 psi on Sunoco Ultra 94, but I played around with some Citgo 110 leaded this summer and turned the boost up to 17 psi and the car was an animal. Def a 13 sec full weight ride on street tires.

TRACK TIMES: No track times yet, but hope to finally get to the track next weekend before it closes. i've raced many upper 13 second cars and it's always close. Comes down to whoever got the holeshot.

FUTURE PLANS: Not much, just run it once to get some numbers and take care of, and keep driving the car. A Front mount intercooler would be nice at some point.

Below are a few more pics of the car:
