| The Mission of the Sands Point Police Department is to serve the people of the Village of Sands Point and to enhance the quality of life in our Village by working with the community to enforce the laws, preserve the peace and provide for a safe enviroment through excellence in policing. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| There are currently twenty one sworn members of the Sands Point Police Department which includes the Chief of Police, one Lieutenant, four Sergeants and fifteen Police Officers. The Sands Point Police serves a community with a population of over 4,000 residents. The Department main division is patrol and also includes specialized functions such as traffic enforcement, juvenile aid and School Resource Officer. BURGLAR ALARM REGISTRATION PROGRAM Please remember that burglar alarms must be registered with the Police Department pursuant to Village Ordinance. Persons with unregistered alarms should contact the Police Department at (516) 883-3100 or come into headquarters to obtain an application. The Police Department is open 24 hours a day and is located on Tibbits Lane next to Village Hall. RESIDENTIAL SECURITY SURVEY The Crime Prevention Officer from the Sands Point Police, can visit your home and conduct a security survey. All security devices, locks, windows, doors and alarms are checked thoroughly to determine their effectiveness. A confidential written report, with recommendations to improve security of the premises, is provided by the police officer after the survey is complete. This only serves to tie up police communications and may actually delay a police response to a real emergency.
