The Faces of Jail By Sam Ormes. This portfolio includes both inmates and staff at the Dade County Jail in Miami, Florida.  I created and manage the Inmate/Corrections Television station there (ICTV).  The TV studio is the perfect photographic environment for such a series.  Many photographs were taken with Nikon F's using a 105mm/2.5 lens on Kodak Black & White Plus, a C41 emulsion. Most images are from negatives scanned in an Olympus ES-10 SCSI film/slide scanner.

Some of these faces belong to hardened criminals, some to not-yet convicted inmates. Several are religious leaders, counselors, nurses, other staff members.  Quite a few are Correctional Officers and Public Defenders.  I intentionally framed many of the portraits so that identifying clothing would not assist you in guessing whether inmate or staff.
