| DOWNLOAD my little freeware Java program that I wrote because I wondered what it would be like if you could grab that Connect Four board and SPIN it after each move. The downloadable game can play classic Connect Four too, perfect Tic Tac Toe, Gomoku (I think) and other variations of in-a-row games with board sizes from 2 x 2 to 19 x 19. You can fix the board to rotate or not, the counters to drop or not and how many counters in a row will win. You can also resize it to make it really small. It is set to play on level 5 but level 20 is more challenging. It's interesting to try some of the different options and work out which games are trivial (180 degree just about anything seems to be trivial, as is 3 in a row on any board bigger than tic-tac-toe) and which aren't. Let it go first and it will soon tell you if the game is unwinnable (It will flash the message "I'm going to win" in the top left-hand corner.) To download the game, click on the link, right click on the zip file and install to a new folder. Double click on the jar file to start the game. To play the Rotating Connect Four applet click on the link. |
