Renamer's
output formats
The default predefined formats chosen are the
simplest found.
Format 1: (Author) - Song
Name.mp3
Format 2: Author - Song Name.mp3
The Author written between brackets adds clarity
and makes it easy to identify the Artists name quickly (optional). The
score between the two spaces gives independence to the Author and Song
Name, and helps anyone to recognize the Author and Song Name without
confusion at a glance. The capitalizing of the First Letter of each
word is the most popular format found today.
Format 3: Free format
You can make your own renaming format, putting
each part of the filename in the place you want. To do this just use
one or more of the five variables available (%Title, %Artist , %Album, %Year,
%Track).
Check the following example:
%Track - (%Artist) - %Album - %Title (%Year)
You would get results like these:
01 - (Police) - GreatestHits - Roxanne (1982).mp3
05 - (Vapors) - GreatestHits - Turning Japanese (1986).mp3
02 - (The Cure) - Greatest Hits - Friday I'm in Love (1994).mp3
Renamer's methods
With this version you can rename using three
new renaming methods based on extracting data from two sources. These
methods are:
Renamer Smart Engine (RSE)
This is the default method, but it is the slower depending on
how the files are currently named. It extracts data (Artist, Title,
etc...) from the filename using a heuristic algorithm. All the data
needed that could not be obtained from this way is loaded from ID3 Tags.
This renaming method is the less dependent of ID3 Tag information (which
is usually wrong).
ID3 Tag Method
It should be the last choice unless you know that the information
on the ID3 Tag of mp3 files is correct. This is the fastest method.
This method extracts data only from ID3 Tags.
Mass Renaming Method
This method is a middle point between the two last ones. It extracts
data (Artist, Title, etc...) from the filename using a lighter heuristic
algorithm. All the data needed that could not be obtained from this
way is loaded from ID3 Tags.
At the beginning, test the three methods explained
above and use the one that fit better to your needs.
In-built tools
Tag's Cleaner
This tool helps to keep the ID3 Tags of your mp3 files with the
correct information and reduces the file size removing useless data.
Tag's Cleaner uses the file information loaded during the renaming
process to update the ID3v1 Tag. If the Title, Artist, Album or Comments
are larger than 30 characters it updates the ID3v2 Tag too (using only
512 bytes for this Tag), otherwise it removes the ID3v2 Tag.
Files Organizer
This tool helps you to organize your mp3 files already renamed
(physically). This moves the mp3 Files from the start directory (carpet)
to other directories that are automatically made according to a chosen
criteria. The organizing options given are: sort alphabetically by Title,
alphabetically by Artist, by Artist Name, alphabetically by Album, by
Album Name, by Year and by Genre.
ID3 Tag's Editor
This tool helps to keep ID3 Tags of your mp3 files with correct
information. With ID3 Tag's Editor you can edit the Title, Artist,
Album, Year, Track number, Comments and Genre info from the ID3v1 and
ID3v2 Tags . ID3 Tag's Editor assures you that information on the
two Tag versions is the same. This means that, for example, if the Title
is "The Beatles" on ID3v1 , the Title will be "The Beatles"
on ID3v2.
Mass Filename Editor
This tool helps to add information to a bunch of renamed files.
For example if you want to add a Year or Album name to a bunch of renamed
files, this tool will be very useful.
