Located in the Allegany Highlands of Bath County, Virginia you can find an
artist's dream come true, RoundTop Artist Retreat.
The playfulness of this breathtaking 300 acre mountain top retreat will breathe
life into the artist you are and the one you will become.
Surrounded by wildlife, inspiring vistas, crystal clear rivers, dramatic
sunrises and sunsets, and bright night skies, its nature refreshes the mind and
soul.

The retreat is built to complement its surroundings, compatible for artists of
all mediums and stages of artistic growth. Safari-style canvas wall tents
provide guest artists with comfort, work space and inspiring vistas. Emus,
llamas, deer and other wildlife can be viewed from each tent location.

The Common House is a hand-built, native wood building which serves as a dining
area, social hall and hosts visiting artists holding workshops.
Ann Sams, the owner of RoundTop, is a renowned artist, originally a painter from
Miami, Florida, influential in its art world. Fabric and dye became her next
forte and she became one of the first successful fabric artists in Miami with
national press. The playfulness of this medium opened a new world of freedom in
which she now works, sculpting: combining paper, paint and fabric to create
three dimensional works. Her art has been freed to twist, turn, dance and sing,
and she with it, leading her to her latest show in Soho, New York last Winter.

Spending the last 10 Summers here on her ranch, among the open space,
breathtaking views, peace and spiritual connection, her art has had space to
grow and play and come into a place of its own. Ann hopes your experience here
allows your art to do the same.
For those who want to step away from their work while here, there are beautiful
walking trails that can be taken on foot or on the back of one of 25 horses that
share the property. Visiting artists may arrange for horseback riding to explore
the beauty of the ranch and the adjoining George Washington National Forest.
