Thank you for joining us in our little corner of cyber-space! Please allow us to introduce ourselves. We are Ken and Debby Buchanan, and we hope to make our mark on the world through our work as children's authors and public speakers.
It is our goal to create a world where children of all ages can spread the wings of their imaginations and soar to a place where dreams not only can come true, but often do! All you have to do is keep a dream in your heart, and believe.
Of course, it usually takes a bit of hard work, too, and plenty of perseverance. But when it all pays off, it's worth it!
This is what we talk about when we visit schools around the world, speaking to children about their hopes and dreams; about writing and creativity; about reverence for the environment; and most importantly, about the power of imagination.
As the authors of three children's books about the Southwest, two of which are award-winning Reading Rainbow books, we know a lot about the hard work and determination it takes to succeed in any highly competitive field.
Since our first book, This House Is Made Of Mud, was published in 1991, we have spoken to students and educators on over 200 occasions, in schools, libraries and conferences thoughout the U.S., Europe, and Africa. The results have been fantastic. After all, everyone needs to believe in a dream!
We currently reside in historic Astoria, Oregon, where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean. We are available for talks in the Pacific Northwest, and beyond. If you would like to know more about us, our books, or our programs, please read on.
