A little about Rosewood Hedgehogs...
We are a father daughter team located in Sudbury, Massachusetts and have been around hedgehogs close to six years now. Our first hedgehog was named Henrietta and I got her as a birthday gift. She was from a private breeder in New Hampshire, she sadly passed away around a year and a half after we got her. It turned out she was much older than they said she was, and she died of cancer and liver problems, which is very common in the African Pygmy Hedgehog species. A year later we decided we were ready for some more hedgehogs, first came Rosie from Hedgehog Valley, then came Rocky from Pet World, following them came Boots and Bouka. Just over a year after Boots and Bouka were born, we got Winston from Daisy Meadows Hedgehogs and Carabella from PogStar Hedgehogs. Since then, there have been a few more additions to Rosewood Hedgehog's breeding herd. You can check out their pictures on the herd page.
A big thank you goes to Nicole from Prickly Pair Hedgehogs for contacting Vermont Fish and Wildlife and informing us that African Pygmy Hedgehogs have been moved to Vermont's non-restricted species list. Vermont residents can now own African Pygmy Hedgehogs without a permit and without fear of confiscation. Please note that European Hedgehogs are still restricted and not legal.
