Aims:

By the end of this activity, you will have used the internet to find out about continental drift, particularly the evidence that supports the theory.

You should know:

• the crust is broken into plates that move around
• what causes these to move
• who first thought of the idea of continental drift

and the following evidence in detail:

• coastlines seeming to match
• how rocks, coal and fossils provide evidence for continental drift
• how the magnetism of the Earth (magnetic stripes on the sea bed) provide evidence
