Sign Series Synopsis RomArt Gallery was created to show the paper sculpture of Rom Hinz. With the use of ancient symbols, these sculptures focus on the many conflicts and similarities of science and religion. Since pre-language times, when art and symbol were the only written communicative devices available, humans have been trying to understand the mysteries and forces of nature: the essence of God. Not too long ago science came along to challenge entrenched beliefs in the supernatural. Then (so to speak) all hell broke loose. Using familiar symbols created throughout human existence, this art exhibit will help explain this amazing confrontation and change. |

| Artist and spiritual symbolist Ronald "Rom" Hinz has been creating and exhibiting paper sculpture for over 25 years. Born and raised in the Midwestern United States, he first became a published poet in high school and college, eventually earning degrees in English, journalism and marketing. In his late twenties he attended graduate art school for three years at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, where his fellow artist-students gave him the name "Rom.". From 1977 to 1982, he exhibited paper sculpture in dozens of venues, winning many awards. During this period he drew up plans for The Sign Series using recorded dream imagery. Rom extended his artistic talent toward a career in media consulting, politics and advertising in 1982. During this period, he continued his art studio work and intensified his study of metaphysics. In 1993, Rom moved to New Mexico to further his studies with the numerous psychics and spiritualists that now live there. He returned to art full time in 1998, moving to Wyoming to set up his studio, where he creates paper sculpture, RomArt and digital monoprints. He has exhibited in Colorado, Minnesota, New Mexico, Wisconsin and Wyoming art galleries and museums. He is currently focused on creating a metaphysical art trilogy. The three movements are The Sign Series, The Monitor Series and The Covenant Series. The Sign Series, which can be seen on this website, is complete. |
