RWG COMMUNICATIONS

You need my editing services if you are:
Rates are negotiable, depending on the specifics of the project. I charge per page -- not per hour or per word. Minimum charge is $25.00. If you are working with a tight budget, I can negotiate a lower fee for you. Per page cost is from $6.00 on up, depending on complexity, deadline, and amount of research work involved. Undergraduate student fees for papers start at $4.00 per page. Independent writers involved in larger projects -- for instance, books - can negotiate aggregated fees outside of my usual per page charges. For instance, if you have a 300 page manuscript, I will charge a total fee, rather than a per page one. The total fee is always lower.

Writing

ABOUT ME

OVERVIEW:

With more than seven years of experience both as a writer of independent cultural journalism and as a consultant for books, articles, and dissertations in the humanities and the qualitative research paradigm in the social sciences, I can help you improve your writing according to the canons and styles current in your discipline. Good writing is site specific. The informal style of a personal memoir is inappropriate to a mursing review paper on, for instance, quality of life issues among cancer patients. I will not compose your work, but I will help shape it given the norms of the discipline that treats your subject matter. Only you can ultimately write it: my job is to make it flow logically and topically; to make sure that it refers to current literature and themes in your field; and to make sure that it is line edited (grammar, punctuation, etc.). This is what is entailed by helping you find your voice.

In the humanities, voice is a familiar concept. Humanities scholars are trained to integrate expressive language and conceptual structure in their texts, thereby deepening and enriching their themes. If you are a humanities scholar, I can help you achieve this goal. In the social sciences, however, the divide between information and articulation is under-conceptualized. So how do qualitative social science researchers find their respective voices?

I will help you find the total connection between expressive accounts, methodology, and findings in order to make the whole bear the impress of an authorial identity. My suggestions will make your text clearer conceptually, tighten its flow, and clear away stylistic obscurities.
