Mongolian Stamp Catalogue

This catalogue was last updated on November the 19th 2005.

There has not been a special Mongolian stamp catalogue since the late 1980's. Most collectors will use a Scott, Michel
or Yvert catalogue. While these are fine for day to day use, this catalogue wants to give you more detail.
This is and always will be a work in progress. This will be a general catalogue and there are other more specialised
catalogues available. You often see the Cyrillic characters: "БHMAУ" on Mongolian stamps. This stands for
"БYГД HAЙPAMДAX MOHГOЛ APД УЛC" or in English: "Mongolian People's Republic".

Numbers used this catalogue are per those used by the Mongolian Post Company. They use one number per issue.
They also use a separate number for a set and its corresponding Souvenir Sheet. Dates of Issue are as published by Mongol Post Company.
(Some of those are probably incorrect). Some dates of the older stamps are not as per Mongol Post, because we know those to be wrong.

A note on First Day Covers. Mongol Post has been inconsistent in the issue of FDCs. Sometimes a general cover has
been used, sometimes a special cover. Where possible I have included the special FDC covers I have in my collection.
Hopefully more will follow.

Somebody also asked me about meter stamps (frama labels). I have not seen those, but one user did send me a picture
of a meter stamp produced in 1997. I have since found a franking machine at the central post office.
It is not used for franking letters. See scan amongst Meter Stamps.
