| Raoul Wallenberg |
| Raoul Wallenberg is as notable an individual as any one who worked in resistance to Hitler's "final solution" toward the end of WWII. Origin- ally from Sweden, Wallenberg studied archit- ecture in the United States. Thereafter, he received several accolades and quickly be- came a prominent figure in the business world. However, it was his work in the arena of politics that would allow for him to become an icon for an entire generation. When he was elected to the WRB (War Refugee Board), he traveled to Budapest, Hungary. There, he saw the horrors of the holocaust that were beginning to take there toll. Yet, Wallenberg saw hope in the city of Budapest with the possibility of helping persecuted and condemned Jews. Though nobody knew it at the time, his presence would affect thousands of lives. |
