Home of the founder of the Order of the Eastern Star from
1862 until his death in 1888. Owned and maintained by the
Grand Chapter of Kentucky, the Home is open 8-4 daily.

In 1860 Rob Morris was appointed professor in the Masonic Collage
and moved his family to LaGrange, Kentucky. On September 30, 1864, as trustee for his wife, Charlotte Mendenhall Morris and their Children, he
purchased this white frame house on the corner of Walnut and Washington
Street for the sum of $1,400. He lived here until his death in 1888. His widow,
Charlotte, lived here until her death in 1893. Subsequent owners and
occupants for the next 26 years are vague.
The property was deeded to the Grand Chapter of Kentucky in
October of 1919 for $2,750. Restoration was a work in progress for many
years, completed in 1970. Sister Ella Morris Mount and Charlotte
Mount, Granddaughters of Rob Morris, and other family members returned
bedroom furnishings, other pieces of furniture, mementos and family
pictures to the home.
