First Official Sabmag Move and Groove - January 7 - 9 Okay, it's decided...I'll be relocating our household in Cleveland to the new house in Pittsburgh on this weekend. Consider this the official Call for Help. If you've ever enjoyed a free bed, meal, beer, or wrenching labor on my nickel and were feeling guilty about it, NOW is the time to ditch that cross you've been carrying and lend a hand!
Here's how it'll work: Saturday morning (early) we'll begin loading it. Then I'll drive it to Pittsburgh. The offloading in Pitt will take place Sunday. SO, you're welcome to help on the Cleveland side or the Pittsburgh side (Special Friends will of course wish to help on *both* sides.)
If anyone happens to have a BFT they'd like to bring/donate for this effort, you will be deemed a Prince Among Men, as the accrued mileage tween Pitt and Cleveland will make using a UHaul an expensive proposition unless I can figure out how to disable the odometer. ; ^ )
Food and lodging are on me, for anyone who wishes to spend the night(s), as usual. Contact me to RSVP or for questions, and accept my profound thanks in advance!

2000 Winter Maintenance Clinic - January 14 - 16 Kicking off the year right, I offer this season's annual WMC! The bike in question will be Jim Hiler's VF750F, which has been languishing in Russell's garage since he bought it last fall. This year's procedures will be mounting and balancing tires, as well as any other tidbits of maintenance the bike might be needing. The location for this event will be our new house in Pittsburgh (see previous event). As usual, I provide food, lodging, tools, and occasional entertainment for anyone who comes. For more info, contact David Ryder.

Jezabel Engine Installation Clinic - March 3 - 5 Lori Lovejoy will host a gathering of maggotry at her home in Jamestown, OH for the purpose of installing a new engine in her 85 V65 Magna. Tools, heated garage, good food, sleeping space, and appropriate beverages will be provided for anyone who attends. For more info, contact Lori.

2000 Winter Maintenance Clinic (Reprise) - March 3 - 5 Since the *first* WMC kinda fizzled due to the move, we offer ANOTHER one! This time the menu will include a more traditional WMC offering: a V45 Sabre valve adjustment. The location for this event will be our new house in Pittsburgh. As usual, I provide food, lodging, tools, and occasional entertainment for anyone who comes. Wrenching will begin first thing Saturday morning and continue until finished, but you're welcome to show Friday night and/or stay over until Sunday. For more info, contact David Ryder.

SMBW (SabMag Bike Week, pronounced SimBiw) - March 7 - 13 Come pose with the open-pipe Harleys, visit the Cabbage Patch for cole slaw wrestling, or just watch the Daytona 200. Big Jim (Garnett)'s East Coast Bachelor Pad (Karen's still in Phoenix) opens for visiting 'Maggots Tuesday, March 7th through Monday the 13th. A recent dry run got me to the track in about 50 minutes, and the beach in just over an hour (expect beach traffic to be a bit worse in March). Garage parking for bikes; reserve the bed or couch early. Since the weather is perfect in Mid January (sunny and 70s), it'll probably be cold and rainy in March. For more info, contact Jim.

SMOT 3.1 - (We put the 'FOOL' in April Fools Day!) - March 31 - April 2 We'll be in Austin (or pretty close) on the evenings, but Saturday should be a great day to explore the hill country. Some of the best roads in Texas are within easy reach for Saturday's ride and I'm sure we'll find some beef for the evening's meal. Low $ hotel accomodations are expected. Anybody else want to camp? Details available by email or on the web.

SME v4.9 - April 7 - 9 Break the winter ice off your bike with us at the Top o' the Caves Resort near Logan, Ohio, in the heart of the scenic and twistily intense Hocking Hills. See here for a map and info on the area. Top o' the Caves has decreasing levels of rusticity for increasing levels of dosh, but expect camping to be in the $8-10 range and the rustic (but heated) cabins in the neighborhood of $65. The cabins sleep 6. See here for pix and info. They are expecting us as a group and are motorcycle friendly, but you're on your own to arrange lodging with them and each other. 800/967-2434 or email them. Cabins are in short supply. Nearest chain-type motel is the TravelHost in Logan; their nationwide reservation number is 800/434-5800. There are literally dozens of choices for bed and breakfasts, lodges, and cabins in the area, with the closest at Cedar Falls. See the Hocking Hills URL for details. WARNING: expect cold, rain, and/or snow when planning your journey to and from this gathering. If you don't own four-season gear, trailer your bike. DO NOT come unprepared for dealing with Ohio spring weather. For more info, contact Phil Ross.

Mini-SME: Say Hi to James - April 28 - 30 Our own James Stoehr is coming back to Pittsburgh for a visit to his old haunts, so let's all gather to remind him why the eastern 'Maggots are more fun! A local ride through Pittsburgh's wonderfully accessible motorcycle playgrounds, Riverview and Shenley Parks, will be planned for Saturday. After that we'll gather at Janine and David's place for a sumptuous barbecue feast. For more info, contact David. For directions, go here, or contact me direct.

SMW Spring Fling 2K - May 19 - 21 C'mon out west to the kickoff for the 2000 ryding season. Join Pete (not Goat Boy) Salzman, and (if we're lucky) IBM as we take on the unsuspecting roads of the Gold Country. For more info, contact Ron Erhardt. Last year's event page is here, which has directions from just about anywhere.

SME 5.0 - June 23 - 25 Located at the Cherokee Campground (423/253-3094) in Tellico Plains, TN. That's the weekend after Father's Day, for those who care. No reservations are necessary; show up and we'll find you a place to throw your tent. Rooms and good food are available nearby for the camping-challenged. Rides will include the Cherohala Skyway and Deal's Gap, with a ~100 mile side trip available (if there's enough interest) to the Ocoee River, a scenic whitewater river bordered by a good twisty road. This was the site of the Olympic Whitewater competition. Here's a map of the Tellico Plains area. Here's a map of the Skyway/Gap/Campground loop (about 135 miles). Be there or we'll talk about you around the campfire. For more info, contact Jack Hunt.

SMRockies - August 7 - 11 Located in Salida, Colorado, if you've been looking for a reason to visit the western states, this is it. A week-long event, offering more than enough time to ride your brains out AND meet enough Sabmaggots to choke a large farm animal. The official point of gathering will be the Heart of the Rockies Campground, 16105 Highway 50, Salida, CO. 800/496-2245. Other campgrounds and B&Bs are nearby. Reservations are the responsibility of each person who plans on attending. We are going for a group discount (to be announced in a couple of weeks or so.) Possible password to qualify for the reservation discount: SABMAG. A Mapblast of Salida can be found here. For more info, contact Doug Hathaway or Karen Ferguson.

SMBerkshires - August 25 - 27 Come join the east coast 'Maggots in the Berkshire hills of western Massachusetts. The Berkshires offer many scenic winding roads through the western sections of Massachusetts, Connecticut, and southern Vermont. There are state parks along the Mohawk Trail which offer limited tenting however here's a few other possible options: Country Aire Campground, Ox-Bow motel 413/625-6011 (right at the entrance to the campground), Red Rose motel 413/625-2666 (next door to the campground). For more info, contact Bob Peloquin.

SMPNW Eastern Oregon Fall Ride - September 15 - 17 Located in Baker City, Oregon, this year we're going to ride up to Hell's Canyon and back. Friday night is just a meet and greet night. Saturday we'll ride, with a BBQ following at our house, then Sunday we'll leave it up to everyone what they want to do. The web page is here. For more info, contact Penny Devlin or Jim Devlin.

SMBC2.0 + NWPNW - September 15 - 17 Hosts: Jack in Surrey BC, or Robert in Anacortes WA. Rides: North Olympic Peninsula (WA) & Southwest BC mainland. Two overnights and roughly 600+ miles in two days. For specific info, go here.

SMEFLy - October 13 - 16 CANCELLED

SMENoE 2 - October 6 - 9 Check your electrics, see a moose, eat a lobster, sleep in a heated garage (really this time) hear the V65 song performed live. Maybe snowmobile. For more info, contact Zimbob.

SabMag Santa Maria (2SM) - October 13 - 15 We are hosting a gathering of maggots to eat, ride, and lie in Santa Maria, Ca. Camping and hotels are avaible, with home base being the Santa Maria Campground (805/928-9534). Further details available by contacting Rick Ricks.
