Winter Maintenance Clinic 01 (WMC) - January 19 - 21 Otherwise known as the Invasion of the V30's, come witness our probably futile attempts to get three baby Magnas running in one single weekend. Worst case, we'll use all of them to build one that runs well, and the owners can thumbwrestle to see who gets it. The location will be David and Janine's place in Pittsburgh. Wrenching will commence Saturday morning and continue through to Sunday, if necessary. As usual, food and crash space provided; first come/first served. Questions? Email David A map is here
SM-WC The 1st Annual SabMag Winter CarnivalSM-WC will be held Feb. 24/25 2001 on Piper Pond in Abbot, Maine. Note that the lack of a letter after SM indicates that this is an international event. This is a non-bike, non-maint. event because as HisPhilness is wont to say "It's not about the Bikes". If anyone is desperate, they can rotate the tires on the ST. Usual activities include snowmobiling, x-country skiing, downhill skiing (small area 35 miles away, uncrowded..$20.00 weekend tickets) skating if you bring a Zamboni. The naked snow angel contest will be judged by a mystery guest (maybe). The usual eating, drinking and Peloquin baiting activities will accompany the above. Leading candidates for Carnival Queen are Ms. Teri and Ms. Leslie. Uncle Milt is expected to be a late entry. You'll be floored by the sleeping accommodations. RSVP
SME 5.9 April
27-30 Top o' the Caves Campground in Hocking Hills, near South
Bloomingville, Hocking County, Ohio. Go to http://www.topothecaves.com/ for camping/rustic
lodging info. The main lodge, which sleeps 10-20, is available for $330. The
rates on the rustic cabins have gone up to $75; they sleep 2-4. There are
per-person additional charges over the minimum. Call the campground at
800/967-2434 for details. Tell them you're with Sabmag. Camping is $10 a night
in the group area near the fire ring. Based on past experience, first-timers,
there is a 75% chance you will be very cold and very wet. If you don't have
experience with cold-weather riding and/or don't have both waterproof
or electric gear, I implore you to think twice about riding your bike to
this event. We've had some serious lapses in judgment with folks attending who
either didn't plan for cold wet weather or didn't check the mountain weather
forecasts. Make a smart decision based on an honest appraisal of your skills
and fortitude. There will be no dishonor for arriving in a cage. I am dead serious
about this.
SMW Spring Fling 2001 - May 18 - 20 After working through many
obstacles, we've arrived at the weekend of May 18-20 (Fri-Sun) for next years
Spring Fling in Volcano. We've already started the route planning, and it'll be
different from the past two years - and no less interesting.

SME 6.0 June 22-24, 2001, to be held at T.W.O. in
Suches, GA. Located in the North GA mountains, T.W.O. is the southern Mecca for
motorcyclists. There are twisties abound anywhere you ride. Tight mountain
roads, fast sweepers with cambered corners, whatever you want, it's there.
Deal's Gap is 2 hours away (the short way). If we get lucky and Frank (PO of
T.W.O.) is there, he might give us some really good routes. T.W.O. has a lodge
with four bedrooms and more than enough camping area. Camping is cheap, while
the lodging is moderately priced. Pictures and general info can be found at
their website ). The date is set, so
go ahead and make plans now to be there, or like they say, we'll talk about you
around the campfire. Contact Chris Pope
for any more information.
Bruce Cargin and Dani and Scott Ellickson are planning on having all you folks stay at their houses. Bruce can handle a few tents in his back yard, as can Dani and Scott. Dani's place also offers up floor space, couches, an extra bed and an air mattress. Contact Dani if you would like to stay at a hotel/motel and she'll assist you with those arrangements. There will be a feast Saturday night and then you all can head your own way on Sunday, or perhaps go for another ride if you're interested. Please let us know if you plan on attending and if you plan on staying at Dani's place or at Bruce's place so we can keep track of how much room we have available. We look forward to seeing you all there! Hope you can make it! If you have any questions, please contact Dani
Michigan maggots weekend-long event - July 13-14-15, 2001 A couple of us Michigan maggots are planning a week end long event for the weekend of July 13th. The Friday night will be spent camping on fellow Maggot Michael Spitler's farm in Webberville Michigan. There will be a bon fire, BBQ and the typical stupidity that night. Saturday we will head toward Lake Michigan and follow the shore line to Ludington and set up camp at the State Park. The rest of that day and Sunday will be spent exploring the National Forest. Any one that wants to set up camp at Michaels farm on Sunday and ride home Monday is welcome to do that as well. This is not just a Michigan riders event. Every one is welcome, the more the merrier! You can email me for more details
SMS 1.0 Scandinavia. The event will take place the weekend July 26th - 29th at the island Oland on the Swedish east coast. It's sort of a holiday island where a lot of people, both bikers and others spend their holidays. It will be in participation with another big bike meet called "Svintraffen" (Swine meeting). The organizing club is called "Svineri Mc" (Swine's Mc). They're not as bad as they sound, I know some of them personally :-)
The campground is *** and has all convenience, restaurant and all night open grill bar. You can choose of camping or renting a cabin. At a little distance of 0,5 to about 4 miles (1 - 6 km) there are multiple restaurants and also hotels available. The campground is a nice and soft grass lawn at the beach. So don't forget to bring swimming gear at least if the weather is nice.
There is also a party ground at about five minutes walking distance from the campground where the night's party will be. The club is both organizing beach party's during daytime and party's at night at the party ground with two or three live rock n' roll bands playing during the weekend. There will both be food and beer to satisfy everybody. The distance between the camp and party ground is however that far so people who wants to sleep will not be disturbed.
During daytime there will also be some tour on the island, we may also arrange a Sabmag tour.
There are no ferries necessary to get to the island since it has a bridge connection with the mainland. Check out these links enclosed, there you'll see all how it looks as well as maps how to get there.

http://drive.to/svineri - The arranging club and pictures of last years meet. Just don't get scared off because some of the pictures look rough with a lot of action. The "Swines" (as they're called here) like to take the worst pictures they can find ;-) It's still quite a nice meet and everybody are choosing their own action ;-) There will be more info soon, at both the Sabmag Scandinavia event site and the "Svineri" site. http://www.lib.utexas.edu/Libs/PCL/Map_collection/europe/Sweden.jpg - Map over Sweden. http://www.sna.se/webatlas/700/index.html - Clickable road atlas in English. http://bigert.nu/sabmag/evenemang/images/karta.jpg - Map of the island. http://bigert.nu/sabmag/evenemang/images/kartrod.jpg - Closer view map of the island. http://www.borgholm.se/turism/karta/kvik.htm - Clickable city map of Kopingsvik where the campground is located. http://www.lundegard.se/img/karta01_w2.jpg - The campground in detail. Hope to see as many of you as possible there :-)

Marietta Sternwheeler Festival/Dark Hills ride Sept 7-9
The next Ohio sabmag event is approaching quickly. September 7-9, the weekend following Labor Day, we'll be meeting at New Matamoras, Ohio. This is the old SME 1.9-3.9 stomping grounds, Leith Run Rec Area and the Aldeco Motel, seven miles north of the St. Marys bridge on Ohio Route 7, 15-odd miles north of Marietta.
Meet at Leith Run Friday night for the campfire, ride the Dark Hills of Monroe Saturday (the best ridge roads anywhere), and spend Saturday evening in Marietta for an amazing fireworks show. As an added bonus, listen to Russell's first-person narration of his Iron Butt experience while it's still fresh--he'll probably still be a bit worn from the experience. :^)> A sampling of the roads we'll be riding is here As of Monday, the Aldeco still had a few rooms. 740-865-3426. Don't expect to find one closer to Marietta on the festival weekend. I've reserved one for myself and one for Katherine, and there are at least two more. I may or may not be using mine. There are also rooms in St. Marys, about a ten-minute ride. I wouldn't count on those being there at the last minute. Best plan is to camp at Leith Run, where we'll have the group camping area and where we'll be rendezvousing. Dan's "tent" is already set up and waiting. :^)>
As always, rain is typically a prominent feature of any Dark Hills ride, but at least it will be a relatively warm rain this time of year. Russell and I have been doing this for a couple of years now. Those of you who haven't been here when it's actually warm out owe it to yourselves to make this event!

There is going to be a get-to-gether of riders put on by the SoCal group of Maggots on Oct 12 (fri) thru the 14 (Sun). We had a work weekend of riding last Sat & Sun (Aug 25&26) whereby 10 of us showed in the Ca Hot Springs Area (180 miles northeast of LA) of the Sequoia National Park. We had representation from NorCal, CenCal, and SoCal. There is a Motel (Rabbit Foot Trail Inn..661 548 6813), and camping nearby to accommodate everyone. There is Plenty to see and do with wonderful Ca secondary roads with almost no traffic. The upper Kern river is delightful and accessable for cooling off. Come one come all. A set of pictures of our work party can be seen on the webshot sight... http://community.webshots.com/photo/20226567/20229811jpkSQImqcU
SMEGMA III - The MiniSeries! Oct. 12 - 14 That's right, after a one-year layoff due to a contract dispute with the artists and writers, SMEGMA (SabMag East, Greater Mid-Atlantic) is back - and now it's a 3 day miniseries! Join the great un-washed and converge upon RW's place in mid-October for THE fall happening in the Washington metro area.
Thrill to the exploits of RW as he finds new and creative ways to turn around after missing yet another turnoff in familiar neighborhoods. Watch in horror as Janine drops her bike yet again. Revel in the handiwork of The Rooster as he strips and cleans his carbs - WHILE RIDING HIS BIKE!! Be amazed as you watch Carl squeeze a nickel so hard that the buffalo shits!
In addition to the aforementioned activities, we will also be riding up to one of the local drag strips early Fri. evening for a test 'n' tune night - this means you get a chance to square off against other Maggots in a true test of manly skill and riding ability - for the ridiculously low sum of $15. Rooster is already betting that he can take on all comers - we'll see!
On Saturday, we will be sport-touring some of the local good roads and will hit Catoctin Mt.State Park and High Rock - with any luck, the hang-gliders will be struttin' their stuff.
For those of you who didn't catch the first two SMEGMAs, we have a very large yard and ample parking for mucho attendees. Tents/campers welcome, (very) limited indoor space available on a first come, first dibs basis - bribes accepted (encouraged, even).
