OSCAR CARMONA -
PERSONAL BIRDING GUIDE/ RIO GRANDE BIRDING TOURS
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Texas is a special place for birders. Over 600 species have been sighted within its borders. It is unique due to its location along the Texas Coast, Rio Grande River, and the Central and Mississippi flyways.

Oscar Carmona provides a birding guide service that personalizes tours to meet your or your groups' needs. Your "wish list" sets the itinerary. Guided tours are available upon request.

YOUR GUIDE:
Oscar Carmona has been birding Texas for over 15 years. I have helped document many sightings with the Texas Birds Records Committee and am a frequent contributor to
Field Notes. In addition, I have authored articles in Birding and Birder's World magazines and compiled the bird checklists for Bentsen and Falcon State Parks. I am very active in promoting ecotourism throughout the state, I am a member of the ABA Big Day team that holds the Texas record of 230 species sighted in a 24 hour period. This is the 2nd highest total in the United States.

BIRDING INFORMATION:

I will customize your tour to meet your needs. I can cover the
Rio Grande Valley in search of Muscovy Duck, Hook-billed Kite, Green and Brown Jays, Ringed Kingfisher, Altamira and Audubon's Orioles, White-collared Seedeater, and many others that are found nowhere else in the United States.

Texas Hill Country
tours are targeted at locating Golden-cheeked Warbler, Black-capped Vireo, Green Kingfisher, and Zone-tailed Hawk.

West Texas
tours are aimed at locating Colima Warbler, Montezuma Quail, Common Black-Hawk, Lucifer Hummingbird, Gray Vireo, and other montane species.

If there are any "vagrants" in the area, I will make a special effort to show you these birds.

Beginners and avid veterans are encouraged to sign up for tours.
