We are Finns living in Finland. In the summer of 2006, we moved from Helsinki to Kotka. Kotka is a cute little seaside town a little over an hour drive east from Helsinki, not far from the Russian border. Click here to see Riia's pictures of Kotka. We love the spring and summertime in Finland, but hate the cold, dark winters!
We met eachother over the internet in the year 2000 while Riia still lived in the USA (she had lived there since 1978) and Tepa was in Helsinki. Our email and chat friendship blossomed to love, and little by little Riia moved back to Finland so that we could be together.

Riia was born in 1962 and has worked as a research consultant, mostly doing data analyses. Her backup plan is to become a professional poker player if the consulting work dries up ;-) She has a brother who lives in Sofia, Bulgaria, and her mom moved to Kotka from Lahti in February, 2007. Tepa was born in 1953 and works as a lab technologist at a hospital. Tepa has one son (Tatu) and one daughter (Sini) from her previous marriage. Both live in Nurmijärvi (about a 40 minute drive from Helsinki) with their own families (see a picture). In total, there are now six grandchildren! Tepa's mom and ex-hubby live in Helsinki. |

We both like digital photography, travelling, watching TV, playing cards and computer games, reading, music, and surfing the internet. Riia also likes to do graphics (such as the logos you see on this page), manipulate/enhance digital photos, and design simple web sites - feel free to contact us if you would like to hire her to do some of those things for you! Or, if you'd like to hire Riia (for a very reasonable price!) to make you a collage of your favorite family pictures, such as the one here, to print and frame or to use as a background on your computer's desktop, feel free to contact us. Riia also loves cooking (try some of her recipes here). Tepa is a weather nut and likes to keep track of weather in various places where she has visited or is going to visit.

We
are definite couch potatoes. Some of our current
and recent
favorite TV shows include "Reality"
TV shows such as Survivor, The Apprentice
(we also watched the Finnish one, Diili, and hope they
will be making another one), The Cut (didn't think we'd like a show with a fashion
business as the milleau), The Batchelor & The Bachelorette
(we are waiting for some gay and lesbian versions of these!),
Queer Eye for the Straight guy (USA and Finnish versions, the
latter
called Sillä Silmällä), The Amazing Race, Idols, America's Most Wanted, and .... The
World Poker Tour (the greatest gift of all, reality TV with
a lot of reality). Riia got also hooked on Finland's
Big Brother when the first season started in the Fall of
2005, and Tepa followed suit during the 2008 season. We've also very much
enjoyed Dexter, Criminal Minds, Six Feet Under, Sex and the City, The L Word, Friends,
Will & Grace, Medium, Ellen, Frasier, Golden Girls, Numbers, and
Seinfeld, only to mention a few.
