Wonder Twinz interview
The Wonder Twinz are an influential pair of underground hiphop DJs from New York. They are known for thier radio show, thier promotion skills and many other projects under thier collective belt.

Q. Briefly introduce yourselves.

Twinz: Peace. We are the Wonder Twinz: Sonic & Lord Vader from Huntington Station on Strong Island. We host a nationwide radio show on Sirius satellite radio. Our show is Mon-Fri from 12' noon-6 PM EST.

Q. Tell us a bit about the Connex list.

Twinz: The Connex List is the resource magazine that we started about 3 years ago. This list is filled with contact info of industry heads from all over the world. We give this list out for free to all artists who are trying to get into the business. The whole purpose of this list is to help guide aspiring artists, producers, etc. into the right hands. The magazine is availble out on the streets as well as at the website: www.connexlist.com

Q. What do you think of the other radio shows in New York at the moment?

Twinz: We try to be open minded to all the shows that are out there. Unfortunately, there are a lot of politics involved with the shows that are on the air. There are a lot of cats who will not play music unless they are paid under the table (illegally). That is a shame because that is the main reason why there is so many weak songs on the radio today.

Q. Tell us a bit about your promotional service.

Twinz: Our promotions company is called Wondertone Promotions. What we do is we take music from artists and send it out to DJs all over the country. That is really the best way for
artists to get their music heard. After we send the music out, we follow up with the DJs. We get feedback from the DJs. This will let the artists know exactly how their music is being felt. We really work hard to help artists make some noise and create a buzz with their music. You can learn more about our promotions company by going to our promotions website: www.wondertone.com

Q. Are you into any UK hiphop?

Twinz: Yeah no doubt, we really enjoy hiphop
music from all over the world. UK has a lot of really talented artists. Some of our favourites include: Tricksta & the Wolftown crew, Belles in Monica & Breakin' Bread.

Q. Roughly how many listeners do you get?

Twinz: Its really hard to know the exact number of listeners because our listenership is based on subscribers of the satellite radio service. We do know that the listenership grows rapidly every day.

Q. Are you actual twins?
Sonic looking a bit monged out
Twinz: No but we are brothers. We are about a
little under 2 years a part in age but we have always rolled together.

Q. What would you say is the best demo you've ever been sent?

Twinz: Through the years, we have  received so many great demos. One of the dopest demos we ever got was from a kid named DL Incognito from Nine Planets hiphop. That kid is dope. All of his songs are straight up "Great HipHop".  He is from Canada. His whole crew is tight. They are an indie label but they got their act together like a major label.

Q. How long have you been DJing for?

Twinz: We have been DJing for about 10 years.

Q. How did you first get into hiphop?

Twinz: It has always been around us. When we were little we just saw how the older cats got down. That was very appealing to us.

Q. What tune are you spinning most at the moment?

Twinz: We have been bumpin' a lot of hot joints lately. Eric sermons new album is dope. Jurassic 5's new album is also real dope. Biz Markie's new album "Weekend Warrior" is real tight. We just got a single from these cats called "Time Machine". The name of their single is "Personal Ads". Those cats are real dope. We are lookin' forward to Apathy's new album. He is now signed to Atlantic Records.

Q. Anything you'd like to add?

Twinz: Yeah, hiphop is a movement. It is more
than just the music that we like. It is the way you think, act, talk, dress and live ya life. It is not all about being a so-called gangsta or thug. Its about bein' yaself and enjoying life.

Q. Any concluding words?

Twinz: We just want to say thank you very much for letting us speak for a few minutes.
