We Want to See Woody on DVD!

If it is difficult to find Woody on VHS (and we all know it really is), imagine how hard it is to find a DVD release. You can already give it up, because there is no official DVD release featuring our favourite cartoon. The reason for that is what we'll be discussing here... I am sure that Woody has a huge legion of fans around the world and that the DVD would sell pretty well, but by some reason, Universal MCA, the company that holds the rights on Woody cartoons today, doesn't seem to believe in Woody's market potential

as we do. If Universal had invested on Woody as much as WB did on Bugs, maybe we'd be wearing and using Woody merchandise instead of Bugs. But that is a topic for a long discussion. To prove that there is market for that DVD release, our folks at PetitionOnLine.com have created an online petition for the release of Woody cartoons on DVD, that will be sent later to Universal management. Ron Kurer, from the Toon Tracker pages, the home of the lost cartoons, has picked The Woody Woodpecker Gazette as the Top Toon site of the month for March, 1998. We're very glad being awarded by Mr. Kurer, whose Woody page was the only Woody resource on the Internet before we built this pages. I'd like to thank all our contributors, Matthew Couris, the newest contributor Matt

Yorston from Canada and the neverending efforts from Wu and Mikio. We've also been picked by Best of Internet in the 'TV Show Sites' section. Also, Folha de S.Paulo, one of the most important newspapers from Brazil selected The Woody Woodpecker Gazette as one of the '110 sites selecionados para crianças' (110 selected sites for children). We're also mentioned on the Van Eaton Galleries Links as a 'must see' site.

With all this restyling going around, we would like to hear from you, dear visitor. If you didn't like some text color, table style, columns divisions, let us know! If you did like some new feature or some aspect you think was nice on the original site and shouldn't be changed, write us too! We'll try to get as close as possible to what the visitor wants to see.

The Woody Woodpecker Gazette is an unofficial reference for Woody Woodpecker fans and is not affiliated to MCA/Universal Studios. It just exists in this electronic format, no printed edition is available. The cover price shown on the fontpage header is there just for designing reasons. My sole purpose while making these pages was to provide a tribute to the Woody Woodpecker character and his creator, Walter Lantz. If the copyright owners feel that their rights have been infringed anyhow, just let me know, and this page will no longer exist.
