Stress can increase a person's cholesterol level, cause ulcers and heart disease. That is besides the mental and emotional problems stress can cause. Also, bitterness, unforgiveness, holding grudges, and a self-centered selfish attitude can lead to not only ulcers and heart disease but many mental and emotional afflictions.
Jesus healed all manner of sicknesses and there are times where the Holy Scriptures tell us Jesus healed those that were tormented and hurting themselves. In many hospitals, it is found that a patient with a serious medical condition and also patients recovering from surgery have a better chance of survival and recovery .... if they have faith.
It has also been found in at least one study that patients who are being prayed for respond in their bodies quicker to medical treatment. In Detox centers and Rehabilitation centers it has been found that those that have "the faith factor" have a higher long term success rate on their clients/patients.
So Bible Study and Spiritual Health are very important for natural reasons but more importantly are the Spiritual reasons.
It is a wonderful thing to experience a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ with the Holy Spirit bringing understanding of God's Word, The Holy Bible.
It is a very wonderful thing to experience God's presence in your life through the power of His Holy Ghost.
These experiences come through Bible Study and Prayer.
If you do not know what I am talking about then I would recommend you start with checking out "The Way" link further down this page, after you finish reading this first study.
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and
the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth.
Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood
Revelation 1:5
The above verse is one of many in which the Holy Bible tells us of the importance of the Blood of Jesus Christ our Messiah for us to be cleansed of our sins.
Then believe upon Jesus Christ that He died for your sins and rose again.
Repent of your sins and pray for forgiveness from God
and ask Him to cleanse and deliver you from all of your sins.
Ask Jesus to become Lord of your life and thank God that Jesus Christ is your Saviour.
If you prayed that prayer congratulations!
Now start reading the gospels in the New Testament of the Holy Bible to learn more about Jesus and seek out Christian fellowship.
The Spiritual Health Study" is my thoughts based on God's Word and other information I have recalled from years of studying and living for Jesus so in that sense you could say it is my first personal Bible Study on this webpage.

This was written hoping the unsaved would read this study.
I am not disregarding the Old Testament as unimportant.
It is very important but I remember when I was first saved I read the Gospels and the whole New Testament in that summer.
I believe for a new convert the Gospels are the easiest way for a new believer to begin to learn about Jesus.
Of course it would also be of benefit to at the same time begin to study the Old Testament because that is where the promised Messiah was first prophesied.

I have added extra of my devotional thoughts to this section on 4-24-2006.
The last paragraph on this page starts out saying;
It has been about 26 years since I have been called into ministry and for many years (especially the last decade), it has felt like our ministry has been on hold.
The teaching on DOKIMOS, especially the last paragraph felt like a prophecy for us, personally, like the Holy Spirit was quickening that message to us.
Though in many areas we do not feel successful yet we can see God through the power of His Holy Spirit, glorifying Jesus and expanding our internet ministry.
Perhaps some of you also have felt like your life is (spiritually speaking) on hold.
As God opens some doors expect fiery trials in those or other areas of your life.

I find the Shroud of Turin to be questionable because it is all one piece and scripture tells us of Jesus burial clothes;

It might take a little while to upload, especially if you are using a modem

"DOKIMOS", "The Approved One".
Those thoughts are where I mention our internet ministry and talk about the price to pay for ministry.
I recommend that the whole study be read.
And then study more on scriptures that talk about being
"APPROVED (DOKIMOS) of God" on your own.
I have found there are many times this New Testament word is used.
"Our lives are not on hold, but rather on trial."
Even as our internet ministry is expanding we are still going through fiery trials, hopefully these trials are purifying fires.
Salvation is free but there is a price to pray for spiritual growth.
Some do not realize it comes through the unpleaseant fiery trials of purification!
Then read and meditate upon the meaning of DOKIMOS starting with that

The price of fine gold is intense fires.
The price of a diamond is to be under intense pressure.

This would mean the piece of cloth (the "napkin") covering the face was a sepearate piece of cloth (even folded when found after the resurrection)
so Christ was NOT buried in one large piece of cloth from head to toe.
The napkin cloth that covered his head was a completely seperate piece NOT one continuous piece like "Shroud of Turin".
Scripture is ALWAYS our final evidence.
All that being said; the reason I included this link is because in the process of discussing the shroud,
these "experts" give an excellent description of how intense Christ's sufferrings were.....
from the Garden of Gethsemane through His beatings to His Crucifixion.
