The underside of the PT Cruiser |
![]() Looking from the back of the car up towards the front you can see the oil filter which is located in the aluminum oil pan. 1st time I have ever see the filter located in this position |
![]() Looking up under the passenger's side. I was amazed that all metal parts where painted, don't remember seeing that before. Also note the six lines running back to the car. Without a manual I have no idea what they all do. I know one is brake line and one is a gas line. The white spattering is salt (I hate Salt) all from just my ride home from the dealer. I was impressed with the clean bottom of the Cruiser (no salt catching pockets). |
![]() Looking back from the motor of the car, again look at how clean (no pockets) the underside of the cruiser is. Looked very well put together under there. That is the exhaust pipe going down the center. |
![]() I could not figure out what was sprayed under the car, (this is looking again to the rear of the car on the passengers side) but you can see where the body had rested on some sort of rack (upper left). Whatever was sprayed under the car it was quite hard. |
![]() Gas tank is located just in front of the rear axle. Notice there is a heat shield on the plastic tank as the exhaust system bends around the gas tank. You can also see the Watt's Linkage, pretty neat arrangement. |

| Another shot of the rugged looking Watt's Linkage. Spare tire is held in place with the rod just above Watt's Linkage. |
![]() Good shot of exhaust pipe running near rear part of gas tank, exhaust really snakes around at rear of car. Again note how rugged the Watt's Linkage parts are. |
![]() Looking at very rear of cruiser, the rear bumper is made of galvanized steel with if you look just to the right of the spare tire, you can some blocks of Styrofoam. |
![]() Rear stabilizer and rear disc brakes. Rubber hose running near rear coil spring is gas filler hose. |
![]() Here is a great shot from the rear looking forward of the exhaust system snaking up past the gas tank. |
![]() Another shot looking to the front of the car with it's clean bottom side and also notice that the channels on each side of the car can drain out and not hold water or my favorite, salt. |
![]() Example of the clearance just in back of the front passenger side wheel. |
![]() Driver's side front wheel. The line just in front of the axle is a grounding strap that attaches the wheel to the car (Probably for the traction control). |
![]() Looking up under the front bumper, little cylinder in the center is clutch slave cylinder. So the tour under the PT showed to me at least to have as much thought and detail as the rest of the car. Hope you all have enjoyed it. Coming soon my anti-lock brake system demo!!! |
