| Interview by: Reaver REAVER: When did IBEX THRONE come into existence? ZODIAC: IBEX THRONE started in the season of lust 96/96... REAVER: Not too long ago, you guys played an event outdoors. Outdoors meaning, out on a hiking trip to the deep forest & mountains with no tarp, just surrounded by the sky & trees (awesome) how did that go & how hard was it to pull off? ZODIAC: Ahhh yes! We played in the middle of fucking nowhere in the Rocky Mountains for a festival that was accurately titled "Gathering of Shadows". The demons from NIGHT BRINGER set it up so I didn't have much to do with the actual situation of setting up of the show, but they did a great job. It was the coldest fucking thing I have ever done. The show started at dusk & right when that bastard sun set the temperature dropped like 40 degrees & like you said, it was in the very deep forest with No heat, No shelter, No weak mortal life!! The only source of light & heat during the whole festival was two firepits on each side of the natural stage & one fire pit behind the drumsets. This is most definetly the best show I have ever played, the atmosphere was very dark & unnatural & all the bands that played seemed to be in a very unholy trance like state including myself & IBEX THRONE. A very great show indeed, it would be great if they have an additional fest next year, we would play it for sure! REAVER: IBEX THRONE put out their first CD through Elegy Records, a label not ashamed of their rather right wing standpoint & roster. Were you worried about being lumped in with a philosophy that is rather frowned upon in society today? ZODIAC: Elegy has been an excellent label to us, they have never forced any opinions upon our band & particularly the album that they released. I was never worried about releasing anything through them mainly because I enjoy almost everything they have put out & they are very professional concerning their bands & releases. As far as the "right wing" standpoint, I really don't mind that they are that way, in ways, I can be very right wing myself. They can do whatever the fuck they want to & I will always support Elegy Records & everything they do regardless of what society thinks. REAVER: How soon should we expect a new release from IBEX THRONE? ZODIAC: Well the second LP is completely finished being written & we are in search of a studio at this time. We were thinking about going to Colorado to record in the mighty Hellion Studios sometime in the beginning of the year but nothing has been set in stone as of yet. The album will be entitled "Total Inversion of Morals" & will contain ten new tracks of pure fucking terror & obscurity. It will have some of the same elements as on the first LP & also a great deal of new rudiments that we have not done in the past. I would expect the album to be released sometime mid to late 2005 if everything goes as planned. REAVER: Are there any plans for touring or atleast random shows on the eastern side of the states? ZODIAC: No shows or tours are planned as of this time. We are focusing on the intense rehersals & recording for the second album, although we have played on the east side before & it was a great experience to have a chance to perform for a whole spectrum of maniacs that usually don't have the chance to experience IBEX THRONE live. After we are finished recording more than likely we will do a tour on the eastern side of the states. REAVER: Do you feel that, for the American Black Metal scene to become stronger, we should start promoting violence against a civilization that does not accept our ideals as the Scandinavians did? ZODIAC: I think that for the whole fucking world to become stronger we all need to start being more violent & militant towards the fucking christian population that has controlled this world for far too long!! I am completely in favor of violence, murder, arson & brutality on all christian leaders & followers. FUCKING SHEEPLE NEED TO BE SLAUGHTERED!!!!! REAVER: The underground scene seems to be split about the murder of one Dimebag Darrell. Where does IBEX THRONE stand on the issue? Are you upset or could you give a shit? ZODIAC: I'm pretty sure that if I would have known him personally I would be more affected by his murder. I am not one of those people that gets broken hearted about someone I did not know dying, although I was very surprised when I found out how he was killed!! What a fucking way to go huh?? REAVER: Being one of the more extreme bands in America, are you concearned with any major exposer or do you believe black metal should stay an elitist outlet? ZODIAC: I think black metal should stay exactly where it is, I mean we finally got all the pseudo black metal bands running for their lives & not polluting this scene anymore than they already have. I'm sure in a lot of cases that there are still shitty bands claiming to be black metal when they are nothing more than a distorted version of gothic music. They will be weeded out just like all the others, hopefully sooner than later! REAVER: How does the promoters & clubs treat your blackened art? I hear an IBEX THRONE show has the potential to start a riot here & there. ZODIAC: Here in Utah, we are basically banned from playing in the whole fucking state. We tend to bring a very extreme crowd with us when we play around here & all the club owners & promoters have heard about us & what kind of swarm of maniacs we are & bring with us to these shows. We have only had one full blown riot & countless numbers of fights & beatings. The riot was excellent, I have no clue still to this day about how it started, all I know, I was on stage slicing through my flesh & screaming blasphemies at the audience & next thing I know, there was like 50 people on stage breaking shit (not ours) & going fanatical. I look over & Lord Dying was in the middle of a heated argument with some older fuckhead about us breaking their equipment (not true) & then the fucker tried to punch Lord Dying in the face but missed horribly & that was where I drew the line. I ended up jumping off stage & smashing that guy in the head repeatedly while 20 or so people from the audience all started beating each other. The fights somehow ended up outside & one of Utah's true warriors ended up taking a few beer bottles to the cranium by some wimp that could not fight him fair. Just about that same time I looked over & saw a whole line of police marching up towards where all this was taking place & I decided to leave to avoid being charged with assault. I ended up back at the "Compound" & heard from multiple witnessess that all the cops were getting knocked on their faces & everybody got away with no arrests... A very great night indeed!!!!! REAVER: Thanks for your time. Any words to help spread the extermination of mankind? ZODIAC: Crush all religion, oppression, government, society, mormons, false metal & of course all buildings that house any of this bullshit. Hails to all our comrades & sluts in USBM & USDM!
