Our chief embalmer "Controller of the Mysteries" and his assistant, "God's Seal Bearer" will purify the body in our "Wabet" (House of purification) using only the purest natron water. Next your loved one will be taken to the "Per-Nefer" (House of Beauty) where the main process will take place. |
Method #1: This is the method I would suggest for your loved one. We remove the brain with our special hook and cleanse out the brain cavity, next our scribe (ripper) opens a small slit on the left side of the abdomen (we use the new "slant" method) with the flint stone. The enternal organs are removed and treated with resin and anointed with oils. They are placed in lovely canoptic jars bearing a likeness of the four children of Horus (Hapi - Lungs, Imsety - Liver, Duamutef - Stomach, and Qebehsennuf - Intestines) after being wrapped with linen. The body cavity of the loved one is thoroughly cleansed and washed with palm wine and infused with powdered spices, then the body is placed in natron for around forty days. At every step in the process religious formule are recited by "Sem" Preists.
Note: We allways use real stones to chase away the scribe (ripper).
Method #2: When for reasons of expense the second quality is called for the treatment is a little different. The internal organs are removed with an injection of oil of cedar, left for several days then drained. This process will remove all the internal organs, then the body is placed in natron for the alloted time.
Method #3: We rinse the body in syrmaea, and then place it in natron for the alloted amount of time.
At the end of the alloted time (55 days) the body is washed
and dried. Slits are made in the fingers, toes and
fleshy parts of the arms, thighs and legs which
are then stuffed with a mixture of sweet spices
and net-jeryt (natron) and sewn up again. The brain cavity is filled with a mixture of spices, powdered plaster and natron. The nostrils are plugged with small linen pledgets dipped in astringent. Large
quantities of gums, spices, natron as well as a
little bitumen are pounded and mixed together and
packed into the breast and stomach through the
slit in the side. A gold plate inscribed with the
utchat (Eye of Horus) is laid on the body and
words of power are recited by a Sem (morturary) priest. The nails of the hands
are stained with henna and on the little finger of
the left hand a scarab ring is placed. The
"kher-heb" (Priest who Superintends) now places the large scarab inscribed with words of power over the heart.
Next we wrap your loved one with our linen taking
care every part is wrapped seperately. The body is
first smeared all over with ungents then pieces of
linen are torn into strips about three inches wide
and applied to the body. On one end of the strips
the name of your loved one is written and the
strips are dipped in water and applied to the
fingers, hands, arms, and toes seperately. Then
the body will be bandaged starting from the feet
upwards. Over these fine linen bandages passages
from the "Book of the Dead" are written. One end
of a very thick bandage is laid under the
shoulders and the other end brought over the head
and face and rests on the upper part of the chest.
The same wrapping is done to the feet and thick
pads are laid on top to prevent any injury when
the body is made to stand upright. The arms having
been pressed close to the body the bandaging goes
on. The "kher-heb" (priest who superintends) recites words of power and makes sure of the proper position of the bandages and amulets. When a length of about three hundred cubits is used a
course piece of linen is laid on the body and sewn
up the back. Over this is placed a saffron colored
piece of linen and sewen over the head, down the
back and under the feet. All this is held in
position by a perpendicular bandage of brownish
colored linen, one around the shoulders, one
around the middle of the body, one around the
knees and one around the ankles. This completes
the wrapping process which takes about fifteen days. The total ut (embalming) process takes seventy days. Next the body is placed in a
coffin and delivered to your or the deceaseds residence.
