Purpose Statement:
Rainbow Community Center has been organized to provide community education, visibility efforts, emotional supports, opportunities, information, activities, resources, advocacy, and referrals for, about, and by the rainbow community* in North Central WV. Rainbow Community Center seeks to end isolation, fear, hatred, intolerance, scapegoating, ignorance, misinformation, violence and discrimination felt all too often by the rainbow community.
Rainbow Community Center strives for the celebration of Diversity and Acceptance of Everyone! To this end, Rainbow Community Center, Inc. shall act as an ally to other organizations and groups of oppressed peoples with similar purposes.

Note: For our purposes rainbow community refers to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, intersexed, questioning, allied, two spirited (American Indian term), and anyone else oppressed due to their sexual identity and their friends. Rainbow Community Center, Inc. is open to EVERYONE of ALL identities. However, This does NOT include pedophilia, or any other abusive relations.

Rainbow Community Center, Inc of North Central WV is committed to Diversity and ensuring everyone feels welcome at Rainbow Community Center, Inc. events. Accordingly the advisory board, officers, staff, and members are expected to follow that same commitment to social justice and embracement of diversity. Rainbow Community Center, Inc. and its organizers will not practice, condone, facilitate, or collaborate with any form of discrimination or expression of hate on the basis of racial identity, ethnicity, national origin, ancestry, color, sex/gender, gender expression, sexual orientation/identity, age, marital/home status, political belief, religion/spiritual belief (or absence of), disability status, or any other personal identity. All participants have the right to be different and to disagree but not to discriminate or show inappropriate expressions of hate, or any form of violence. We are all different from one another. An important part of building safety in a group is respecting our differences.

At any point Rainbow Community Center, Inc. hires paid employees, it will function as an Equal Opportunity Employee. Furthermore, all action by the advisory board, officers, staff, and members will be completed in ways that is welcoming and supported of all members of the community. No one will be refused the rights of membership or treated in anyway that takes away from a welcoming and safe environment. The executive officers, the advisory board, and the general membership will strive to ensure a balance of diversity and representation of the entire community.

Rainbow Community Center, Inc. currently is a small under-funded membership organization with pending non-profit status. Funding, resources, and additional members are NEEDED to establish a quality grassroots non-profit and successful events and projects.

Rainbow Community Center, Inc. was incorporated in WV on April 3, 2003. Fiscal Services are provided by The Bisexual Resource Center of Boston, MA. Effort are currently being made to establish Rainbow Community Center, Inc. as an independent registered 501c3 non-profit with the IRS and the state of West Virginia. Please check back on the status of these efforts.
