| Hi race fans/fanatics, my name is DeWayne Gross and I hail from Mitchell, Indiana. I began racing several years ago in go karts. From there I progressed to a dirt Bomber, the number 9w (aka Wenee Wagon). Presently the 9w sports a proud purple body. Most Saturday nights I can be found racing at Brownstown Speedway in Jackson County, Indiana, and each fall attend the Fun Fest for three days of racing fun at Lawrenceburg Speedway in Dearborn County, Indiana. Sponsors for the 9w include Randy Lawyer Trucking of Orleans, Indiana, Flyn' O Bodies of Bedford, Indiana, G.O. Chassis of Mitchell, Indiana, Lil' Bro Brent and Middle Bro Curt. Excellent engine parts and machining service comes from Cummings Machine Shop. During my years of racing, I have learned much about building racing engines, fabricating bodies, chassis building, and addressing all the problems which come with the pleasure. One of my proudest moments was a feature win in Bombers on Aug. 11, 2007. I also have to my credit a feature win at the inaugural mini Enduro race at Brownstown in July. I especially appreciate the patience and understanding of my wife, Jodie, in moral and emotional support, while I pursue my passion. My personal fan club, dubbed the Wenee Wagon Brigade by my uncle Mike Magill (chairman of the board) includes various family members (including my 84-year-old grandmother) and friends, who spend Saturday nights cheering for the 9w. I do appreciate everything everyone does for the 9w and me. A heartfelt thanks goes out to all of you. Without all of you pitching in when I or the 9w was down, we wouldn't have gotten back up. I think about all the times I have needed help and your reply has always been, "no problem, when and where?" The 9w and I really respect and, dare I say, love y'all. Thanks, meticulous Jay, Uncle Randy, Nick, Paul, Roy, Jerry and "webmaster" mom. Thanks to my 2 daughters for the "good luck" and "how'd you do?" calls. Love you both. Update: We are currently 7th in the points after the 6-7-08 race. The car has handleing issuse at this time we are sorting them out and hope for good results this coming weekend. We just came off a 11th place finish on a less than stellar race track. We managed to keep our tires on the car as other cars tires were coming apart do to the heat and dry slick track. |
