Pray for Chana Tova Chaya Nachenberg's full recovery

Photo of David, Sara, & Chana

Chana Tova Chaya (bat Pesha) Nachenberg, daugher of Paula and Bennet (Yitzchok) Finer, granddaughter of Rose Goldberg and the late Rabbi Morris and Sylvia Finer (z"l) is a member of my community.

She is a lovely young woman, married, and the mother of adorable 5-year-old Sara. Chana is sweet and kind and has an infectious smile.

Chana was critically injured in the suicide bombing at the Sbarro restaurant in downtown Jerusalem almost three years ago.

In this picture, David, Sara & Chana enjoyed time together at a bowling alley.

More on this page:

(May 1, 2005) Chana remains in Reut, a long-term healthcare facility in Tel Aviv. There has been no major change in her condition. We continue to hope and pray for her full recovery.

Seeing beautiful little Sara always makes me think about how happy Chana will be when she finally sees her daughter again... and each new terrorist attack makes me think of all the new families whose lives have been destroyed by terrorism.

Help and Support

Here are ways to help Chana and her family:

Prayer. Please keep Chana Tova Chaya bat Pescha in your prayers, this means a great deal to her family. On the first Sabbath following her injury, her parents added the name "Chaya" (meaning "alive") to her name. If you get a chance, read a psalm and pray for her recovery.

Donations. A fund has been set up to help the family cope with all of the expenses surrounding Chana's care (hospital bills are covered by our National Insurance, but there are many other expenses including childcare for her 5 year-old daughter and transportation to and from the hospital). 100% of the money goes directly toward paying these expenses. Any money not used will be contributed to aid other terror victims and their families.

Donations can be made via:

PayPal (link on this page)

Bank Mizrachi Branch 521 account 115445 in the name of Hakeren Mishpachat Nachenberg.

If you are sending money from overseas the bank code for Bank Mizrachi is 20 and the SWIFT code is MIZBILIT

Letters. Letters of encouragement, little presents and well wishing cards to be sent to little Sarah and to Chana's family. That includes cards to David (her husband) and to her parents, Yitzchok and Paula Finer. Send everything c/o Dr. Rona Michelson, Shomrey HaChomot 37/2 , Modiin, 71700 ISRAEL.

Pictures. Children (or adults) who are interested in drawing and scanning pictures are welcome to. Please send these pictures to Picture for Chana . Please use gif or jpeg format.

Sign the guestbook. Over 350 entries to the guestbook have been printed and were presented to Chana's family. They greatly appreciate this support and will read the entries to Chana!
