Pug Sunday in San Francisco!

Welcome to John and Tracey's Pug Sunday web site! This site is devoted to Pug Sunday in San Francisco's Alta Plaza park. Every first Sunday of the month, pug owners gather from far and wide to bring their magical dogs together for an afternoon of chaos and joy. And, while we ourselves do not (yet!) own a pug, we derive extraordinary pleasure from watching the rompings and cavortings of the pugs of dozens of owners, who come from as far as Marin County to the North, San Jose to the South, and generally all over the Bay Area.
Having received a digital camera for my birthday, I couldn't conceive of a better use for it than to bring it to the Pug Sunday gatherings and fill it with photographs of the world's most adorable dogs.  Clicking on the photo will take you to newest Pug Sunday photos . . . so what on earth are you waiting for!?!

Oh, a few quick things. First, as you'll quickly see, I am basically a terrible photographer. And second, no photos, especially none without a wide-angle lens, can do justice to the full three-ring circus that is Pug Sunday. But at least you'll get a sense of both the mayhem and the majesty of . . .PUG SUNDAY!

BE THE FIRST ONE ON YOUR BLOCK to own an exclusive Coach "Living Pug" Rucksack. Available in fawn and black on a trial basis only after certification by the SPCA, the Living Pug Rucksack holds 5.8 cubic liters of snacks, toys or found objects. Yes, we're kidding. Come on in anyway!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

As will become quickly obvious, we haven't really updated the Pug Sunday site in, well, quite a while. We just haven't had the time to get to many of the Pug Sunday gatherings, much less photograph 'em. However, please note the following:

  • Yes, the gatherings are still taking place! (As of August, 2002)
  • They occur the FIRST Sunday of every month!
  • They're informal, but folks and pugs seem to gather around 2:30 p.m.
  • Pug Sunday in San Francisco takes place in Alta Plaza Park in San Francisco's Pacific Heights area. Alta Plaza Park is along Jackson Street between Scott Street and Steiner Street. The gathering itself is usually in the northwest corner of the park at Scott and Jackson. If you need directions, please consult our FAQ.
