| Welcome to my Rattery. My Rattery, Hagen House Rattery, is situated in South Auckland and is named after my first rat, Hagen. For information on current check the Current Litters page, or upcoming litters, check the Upcoming Litters pages. As a newly established rattery I do not currently have many rats. My current rats however include a three black hooded does, Pixie, Mini-Me and her mother Abby, as well as Hagen, the father of Mini-Me who is a lavender berkshire. Mini-Me was born in Abby's first litter on December 24th 2002. She is not yet old enough to breed, but I plan on having a litter from her later this year. I hope to breed her to either a mink berkshire or a cinammon self. I am also planning on getting in a lavender doe for breeding with Hagen. Learn more about past and present Hagen House Rattery rats at the The Gang pages. My rats are bred for health and personality. I do try to select for colour as well, to achieve variation in the litters but this is not my priority. I will only breed from a rat that has never shown any signs of illness and is well tempered and friendly. My initial rats are all very nice animals and have lovely personalities. This is the aim of my breeding programme. All rats will be handled from a very young age so that they will be well socialized with humans. I also take in rats that need housing. This includes any rat whose owners have to find a new home, for whatever the reason. So if you would like to adopt a rat, then check out the adoption page sometime. Currently though, I have no rats for adoption. The adoption page will also have details of babies from my litters, but only those who have not been adopted by the age of ten weeks. For information on adopting a rat from a new litter, visit the Current Litters page. Information on prices and our reservation service is available at the Prices and Reservation page. Information on the adoption process will be entered soon. If there is a high enough demand for a particular litter, I will breed outside of what I have planned. For more information, see the Upcoming Litters page. This site also contains information about breeding and caring for rats, as well as New Zealand rat genetics and the varieties currently found in New Zealand. There will soon be more information on rat care and breeding as well.
