The Review:

Not much progressive music comes out of Australia so when I received a copy of Voyager’s debut Element V, I was very intrigued to hear what they sounded like. Voyager’s music does take a while to get into, mainly because there’s so many styles mixed in each songs, going from prog-metal to metal to almost a death metal style (vocals mostly), not enough to alienate listeners. In fact it made me want to listen more closely than I usually do. I’m honestly not a big fan of death metal especially the vocals but on Element V, they’re done well enough that you wouldn’t find it a distraction especially for non metal fans.

Another style I hear throughout is a slight alternative and world musics. Even though there’s a lot of metallic sounds, this is a perfect album for progressive rock fans as well as metal fans. It is however one of those albums that require several listens to appreciate it’s unique beauty. Take a chance and experience Voyager today. I’m told that the band will be expanding on future albums. This is a must have.... trust me, you’ll enjoy this!
