Welcome to Martha Sherpa's Cooking School in Hong Kong
I'm Martha Sherpa, a professional cookery instructor and the owner of "Cookery.Com.Hk" ; which is a cooking school located in Mongkok district of Hong Kong. All the cooking classes in my cooking school, can be conducted in fluent English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Taiwan or Fujian dialect.

In my Chinese cooking course, what you learn with me, are what you can order in a good real Chinese restaurant. No matter you are just a food-lover or a culinary professional, I'll teach you all the genuine Chinese cooking skill, marinating technique and the hidden secret in Chinese restaurant style cooking. That's why there're culinary professionals and food lovers coming from different part of the world to join my cooking lessons.

A lot of employers also sent their helpers to us, some of them have received training in Chinese cooking before. When I asked them why their employers send them to us, they said their employers were unhappy with the food that they cooked --- The taste was different from what they had in restaurants. I really feel sorry for them, it's not their fault. Their employers are familiar with the restaurant style Chinese food. How can they expect their helpers to cook restaurant style food if they just received training in simple home-style cooking.

For example, students always ask me how to make shrimp so crunchy as in restaurants? How to make pork chop so juicy and tender as in restaurant? How to make the vegetables so crispy tender as in restaurant? If I ask you, have you ever been invited to Chinese people's house for meals? Do you know what they really eat at home? Then you should know which type of Chinese food you are more familiar with. That's restaurant style not home style.

You may say I don't have restaurant style big stove and wok, how can I cook as good as that. That's why I establish this cooking school. In our cooking school, the cooking equipment that we use are home-style, just a wok, a ladle or spatula and a ordinary gas stove. However, the knowledge and technique that you'll learn are professional. During the class, you have chance to practice. If you practice again at home, you can see the improvement. Cooking is a skill, that need practice. Student always ask me how to tell something is cook or not, my answer is "Sometimes you can just use your ears, you don't need to see" Try it! That's true.

In my Thai cookery class, I'll teach you how to prepare the authentic Thai cuisine. Among the recipes I teach, maybe a lot of them you are not quite familiar with. However, those are the most sought for recipes in Thai cooking. After the lesson, you will learn how to cook with fresh herb and spices, because you have to prepare and cook your own curry paste or dipping sauce, with real herbs in front of you, not a bowl of processed commercial curry paste! Our students always found the food they prepared during the lesson taste better than what they got in restaurant. It's because we cook in authentic way, all the curry paste or dipping sauces are made from fresh raw ingredients. The commercial one can never be better than that.

Sometimes students will ask why they can't find some of the delicious food that I teach in the restaurant menu. I'll just ask them a question,"If you are the boss, what will you sell? "Tom Yam Koong" that is quick and easy or the "Stir fry crispy fish with roasted curry paste and crispy basil"?" Just the name is already so long, you can imagine how many preparation work it take. No wonder you can get Tom Yam Koong in every restaurant, but not the latter. Restaurants want to sell the food that they can earn more, not the food that is more delicious. Therefore, if you are afraid to try something that you can't find in restaurant menu, you will miss a lot of delicacies.

I'm proud to say, 99% of our students enjoyed their cooking lessons in my school. What they have learnt during their cooking lessons, surpassed their expectations. However, if you're among the 1% who just prefer those "Sit, watch, relax and eat" cooking shows or demonstrations, please DON'T consider our cooking class.

My workshop is just an equipped kitchen without unnecessary decorations. There're no soft music background or comfortable sofa for you to sit, relax and watch "cooking show". You cannot keep your hands clean, because there're no helper to cut or marinate the ingredient for you. You have to touch, cut, pound, marinate, cook, eat and wash.

However, this's what my students usually say,"This's what I want, everything is real, I can't imagine I can do it all by myself. I'll show my friends how to cook all these delicious food when I back home, they'll be surprised."
