Introduction:
My name is Juan Estrada, and I have been involved with boxing for most of my life. As a young person, boxing taught me discipline, self-esteem, and goal accomplishment. Now that I'm an adult, married and a father of four, I have the chance to help our youth acquire the same things in life. Voluntarily, I help keep our youth out of trouble and off the streets through boxing, and I've been doing this for over eight years now. Unfortunately, the Community Center where I ran the boxing program for four years, closed down. I would train an average of eighteen boxers per month, for approximately three hours daily. These kids had nowhere to go once the center closed, and I couldn't turn and walk away from them. This is how my project, " Pride & Glory Boxing Club" started. I began building a structure in my own back yard where kids ages 8 through 20 can come and train. I do not recieve any compensation for my services. My only reward is the fulfillment I get from helping our youth of today. I try to teach them the same discipline, self-esteem, and goal accomplishment that I have learned through boxing. I also hope to reinforce the necessity for a good education. This is where you can help us. With your help through tax deductable donations, we can create a good, safe, boxing program for our youth. The mission of Pride & Glory Boxing Club is to provide youth with a recreational oppurtunity to help deter them away from gangs, drugs, and violence.
